>urgent referral to audiologist
>30dB hearing loss confirmed
>steroid shots directly in the ear
>muffled feeling fades after a few days
>follow-up test a month later says hearing basically normal
>thank god
>(it wasn't over)

>soon after, left ear becomes crazy sensitive to noise
>doing dishes? impossible
>mowing lawn? impossible

>have to quit groundskeeping job

>for digital audio it's even worse, can't use speakers or headphones or my phone's audio at all
>rarely leave home except appointments
>spend my days gooning, shitposting on 4chan, reading, doing crosswords, making clay sculptures, playing online Sudoku and chess
