I remember playing this rougelike MMO for a decade and I accomplished everything I put my mind to in that game.In comparison life has very rapid diminishing returns, requiring an obscene level of effort/talent to get over systemic hurdles. Therefore there is legitimately no point of living life at anything other than the bare minimum until either an opportunity comes your way or you die. For example, the guy in Brazil who's lived in the favela his whole life seeing his community improve, getting running water and electricity has more comfort and ease than the cartel member trying to ship drugs to America and getting shot by a rival gang member, despite one doing far more effort. Now apply that to every third-world country and poor people in first-world countries. Bare minimum effort is all I've found is effective. Doing anything more is like chucking waste into the void. So I wouldn't say life is like a video game.
