By that time they should associate your scent with the meat you've been leaving them. When you first try to make contact don't get between them and the meat and do not try and force physical interaction. A trick that sometimes work is to get down, kinda slav squat, and slowly extend your hand out. It make take a couple more days or weeks but when they trust you they will approach you and let you pet them. If you think about adopting one make sure you give it a thorough bath as they often have ticks and lice. Also make sure to get them spade.
