I feel like events in my romantic life aligned in such an impossibly atrocious way that it's as if I had a curse on me.

I was dumped by my girlfriend of 4 years in a catastrophic fashion after I left my job and moved out of my flat for her AFTER I put up with a 1 year long distance relationship. She waited until the very moment I was to travel abroad to live with her to confess that she had wanted to leave me for months
.
Since then not a single woman I had feelings for gave me the time of day. I've even been in situations which would've fit a romance movie - ones I thought would surely work out. I met a woman at an airport and we decided to spend our trip together, I fell in love with her just for her to grow distant as time went on when we got home. I met plenty of women who acted warm towards me only to reject my advances.

Now that I've spent over a year unloved, I find myself on the other end of the bargain, I had to break the heart of a woman who was genuinely in love with me since I didn't reciprocate her feelings. There is no way out of this hole here, I'm like a starved dog in a cage constantly taunted with a meal just out of reach, my only wish in life is to be happy without love.

TLDR: Life sux and I'M a big bitch, waah waah waah

What do you look for in a woman

Great question, I am very superficial in my capacity to fall in love, looks and mannerisms are what make me fall in love. To keep that love however I need to see a certain degree of ambition in them that inspires me.

I don't want to grow old with a woman who loves me because I am a "good catch" and because I don't treat her like garbage. I feel most women these days go through their lives with absolutely zero conviction or vision for their own future. What's worse is that they are spiritually dead, their hunger for the humanities is satisfied by scrolling content on their smart phones and binge watching atrocious tv shows.

I also fear that as I grow old I will become less ambitious and more stupid - so I surround myself with interesting people. I would like to love a woman who inspires me to maximize my potential, instead of one with whom I can die in comfortable mediocrity.

What do you believe you love to be
>>

I'm assuming you meant to type
>What do you believe love to be

To love someone primarily means two things. Firstly, I want to see the person I love happy and successful, I want to cherish their achievements and to guide them away from destructive behaviour. Second, someone I love must be fulfilled in a relationship both emotionally and sexually. One sided love is no love at all.

Furthermore, for love to be true, the person in question must not obstruct one's long term goals or convictions in life. For example, even if I could love a woman with all my heart, if she didn't want a family I would not fall in love with them, despite the capacity.

It was thank you for the correction. I would say that's a pretty good definition. Why do you want a family and I'm curious about what you mean by mannerisms

Looks are requirement for sure. It's nature. Literally in milliseconds our brain registers physical attraction but of course that's just the key the individuals behavior is what's behind the door in the room.

I want to be able to prevent harm and cause good. I want to know how to do that. That requires trust. I'm not ready to love yet. I'm not trustworthy enough. I will be one day. There are things about myself I need to work on. Understanding somebody as best as you can I think is the closest you'll ever get to being them. True connection. That's my definition of Love

>Why do you want a family
I think there is a lot wrong with the world - I can't promise to undertake elaborating on this here, but I feel there's good and there's evil in the world and it is my responsibility to contribute to this strife between values - the only path to achieve this beyond political power is to raise children who can possibly change the world for the better

>what do you mean by mannerisms
When it comes to falling in love, there's many tiny details to how a person acts which makes me fall for them. The way they furrow their brow, the way they smoke a cigarette, the way they shift their tone of voice, little details which I find unique and adorable.

>trust
On trust, I feel myself deteriorating somewhat after my girlfriend - with whom I was committed to stay with for the rest of my life - left me under such circumstances, without a care for my material or emotional wellbeing. Most men in my country are socialized not to trust women, we even have a saying:
"Believe a woman only when a horse is grazing on her grave"
I thought that was an arrogant and cruel way to think, but the more I live, the more I see how little the things women say mean and how frequently they say one thing then do another.

I keep myself to very high standards when it comes to transparency so I'd like to think anyone can put their faith in me.

That makes sense. I respect that you hold yourself to high standards. There's another saying and it goes actions speak louder than words. Words matter very much though they are one the closest we have to reading minds I don't entirely agree that generalizing an entire sex would be correct when it comes to behavior but what makes you think why they do that

>I don't entirely agree that generalizing an entire sex would be correct when it comes to behavior but what makes you think why they do that
I think it is more of a defense mechanism for me personally. If I assume every sweet word to be a lie and every favour to be born out of the prospect of future self interest, the world becomes a space I understand and where motivations are easy to interpret.

An example from my recent past: If a woman I know likes me tells me they want to have sex "but not because they want to be romantically involved" then I'd best be on my toes and assume that they want to push my reptilian brain's buttons, lure me in with carnal desires and then attempt to turn things romantic to try and keep me.

As for generalizing an entire sex, I also think it's incorrect and close minded. On this topic, I must say I find the amount of women who openly hate men to be astounding. They are usually hypocrites as well, telling me they hate "all men but me". I understand that everyone in their past treated them like garbage and that they think I'm some saint for being a decent person, but in the back of my mind I can't help but suspect that they had plenty of opportunities to find men they didn't hate for moral reasons, but whom they left in the dirt for being too short, too ugly, too bald. Women are very hedonistic and prude in this sense and it results in a lot of dissonant rhetoric from them which directly contradicts their behaviour
