Us democratic party is a paradox. Many consider it centre right due to some of its economic policy but socially it's very progressive if not more aggressive than many of the western european leftist party.

Well EU tries to think of itself as a federalist state but that doesn't really translate well in practice especially due to their bureaucratic tyranny.
