Many of my coworkers spend thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars on traveling and accomodations each year. They constantly bug me about when and where I'll take a vacation but all that money goes into savings, with the goal of purchasing land instead. Their short sightedness is incredible. Meanwhile I can spend $20 on a game that will entertain me for hundreds of hours, or just watch endless anime for free.

In the following decades life has gotten worse, less fulfilling, so more and more people have taken it up to cope.The only thing that would get me to stop gaming is owning land to homestead on. Modern/city life is intolerable if you're not a normalfag, so video games are my way of escaping from it. There is nothing enjoyable in a city outside of my apartment. If I could live a real life in the country where I have room, solitude, and freedom to enjoy physical pasttimes, then I wouldn't need gaming to cope.Having kids would also get me to stop, but I won't have kids as long as I live in an urban hellscape. Sex ain't shit and I often would neglect my exes to game. Travel is expensive and pointless. Fuck careers, I want to homestead and work for myself. Love is stupid unless it's love for your kids. Food is fuel, not entertainment. Sleep is good but gaming doesn't compete with it for me.
