If going to heaven depends on whether or not you believe in god, then isn't the test massively unfair? It's way harder to believe in god if you were given a crap shot at life. Many people probably stop believing because god never healed nor helped them.Likewise how do you reconcile with the fact that some genuinely AWFUL people will go to heaven just because they're Christians. A rapist could go to heaven while his victim goes to hell just because his victim either didn't or stopped believing in god (who could blame him or her). If god is real this isn't a hypothetical, this is biblical, and unlike many other god. This god champions himself as being all kind, all powerful and all benevolent.

I don't think people get to heaven just for believing. You have to walk the walk completely, so serial killers, rapists, and normal people don't get a pass for saying they accept Jesus. They have to accept him for real, like 100% open their hearts and surrender. They have to want to change their ways and fucking do it. If a killer or rapist owns up to their atrocities, feels the weight of their sin and spends the rest of their life trying to atone and be good to people, and follow the Lord's footsteps, i'd say they are on the right path. All in all, I think the path to salvation is a lifetime journey, and more about the willingness to start anew and take that journey to better yourself. Not just saying a few prayers and then calling yourself a Christian.
