I don't get why people still hate on anime in general. Sure, the more mainstream garbage is cringe-worthy (and downright degenerate sometimes), but it can really help a person with things like motivation. Helped me tremendously on multiple occasions, even with manga helping me at my absolute lowest. As such, I will continue to watch and enjoy the hobby, regardless of what "society" says/thinks. You should, too.
