It's like being without food or water or shelter, but without your personal survival on the line. Your body and mind reacts weirdly. That said, it's not abnormal, or necessarily unhealthy to go without physiological needs and to not at all times be self-actualized. Being hungry, thirsty, or unsafe, ect ect are all parts of being alive that can give us intense experiences. The hungry man eats better than the well fed man. The tired man sleeps better on hay than the bed man.
