The question just popped in my head recently, as I used to write a lot when I was younger. It was definitely cringe and fucking awful fanfic-tier shit, but I poured my heart and soul into it without a second thought.Have you ever felt similar on something you've made before?

I started making youtube videos based around pessimism/antinatalism/rejectionist philosophy but I didn't get many (you)s and was kind of embarrassed so deleted them. It was my fault because I didn't put any effort into scripting, editing, or making it interesting to watch. That's when I realized that if you want to make a serious point about something, it needs to be written down. So I've been going on reddit lately making little posts getting some ideas out. Nothing special or major but I think I'm going to write a big essay soon.

I sometimes described things poetically but I never wrote an actual story. I ended up deleting everything. I think it was out of paranoia.

I have around 20 to 30k lines of code in different pet projects (no i do not use AI) over the course of 2y ish. I dont always work on them because life is harsh, but i would say its my main hobbynobody will ever use anything i made and they are all brittle but i had fun making them and still do improving them

I have a few dozen pages written of a sort of non Stalinist/Maoist China (semi trotskyist but not really), some stuff exploring an earlier treaty of Brest litovsk in WWI with a continued Bolshevik-Left SR alliance, and something where Bill Clinton wins 1992 in a landslide rather than fairly narrow win, that explores the possibilities and limits of third way neoliberalism I've also been doing a little thing on Byzantine history (particularly the Komnenid era), not because of all the deus vult glory of Rome fanboy stuff, but when I was younger I just thought it was neat that the Roman Empire survived for about a thousand years after losing Rome, but my understanding of Byz history was basically just "they got screwed by the Arab invasions losing Africa and levant, more screwed by Manzikert, and the 4th crusade was the end" rather than anything deeper, and now I have more understanding of random shit from Byz history, and the thought of changing some stuff but without the goal of just painting the map imperial purple and making the empire live forever is kind of intriguing

I have released 2 indie games on steam.The first one took about 9 months and made me about $200 which is great considering I spent almost no money on it.The second one took about a year and I hired an artist for $2000 because I thought if the art was better I'd make more money. The game made about $700 so it was a loss.I'm working on a 3rd now, but I'm hesitant to spend so much money on something that might not pan out. I really love making games though and I hope someday I can do it as my job.
