I sure hope any fans of me will be fans because I'm not a terrible writer!
and not because I have boobs...
should I expect that to happen?
>>
>>85358608
Can we read the book online
>>
>>85358629
All my work has been online for years, but I've finally gotten physically published, though it's not online the one I managed to get published
>>
>>85358608
Most people don't have the intelligence to be conscious of what works well in writing, and what doesn't. Are you any different
>>
>>85358608
What's the book about anon? Or what genre is it?
>>
>>85358665
I hope I am good at it at least, I've got an entire world in mind, but I didn't try to fit the entire thing into the book, if somehow it became a series, then it would take at least 5 more books to detail the rest of the world sufficiently, I don't focus on plot twists and such
>>85358680
it's a pretty simple fantasy adventure quest type, a guy wants revenge on a dragon that shows up rarely, bla bla it shows up he brings some friends, some die, 2 more join, the dragon gets lethally wounded but escapes, dies off "screen" and overall the whole thing wasn't worth it, I doubt you'll actually see the book in stores unless it somehow becomes a best seller, but if it does (probably won't) then super sorry for spoiling!

It's not for kids, but I expect some kids will read it, they probably won't like it, especially the ending, I know not many people are probably going to like how it ends but it's kind of the point, a bit of a false sense of adventure, I'm hoping I don't get lucky and it's only mediocre, because if my first published book is a knockout, then if I fumble the next one, the reviews will only mention a sharp decline in the quality, not what was actually wrong with it!
>>
>>85358608
Is this one of these books where woman is fucked by minotaur or werewolf?
>>
>>85358723
Minotaurs are mentioned but none show up, and werewolves don't exist
>>
>>85358608
That's fucking cool, congrats Nona.

I've wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. These days I scratch the itch by being a DM in a homebrew pen and paper game.

My buddies keep gassing me up about my writing chops so I kid myself about one day writing a book. Probably never will though.

>should I expect that to happen?
So long as you keep your personal information segregated from your work, people should appreciate the work itself if it has merit. Just uh, don't pull a Steven King and start trying to become a political activist to hold onto some fading relevance and you should be green.
>>
>>85358755
I'm so far removed from politics, and I intend to make sure none of the politics in my stories ever mirror real life, and if I can't make that happened, then they won't be in the story.

I am using a pseudonym too, but it's feminine
>>
>>85358767
>none of the politics in my stories ever mirror real life
Historical politics or something that transcends the "Republican vs Democrat" bullshit is fine, even healthy for a story I would argue. 1984 for example is a masterpiece and that is an EXTREMELY politcally charged novel. But obviously contemporary politics feels cheap and almost always is cheap.

>using a pseudonym too
Many of the greats have. Tends to be a mark of someone who makes art for the love of their craft rather than for the object of fame or fortune.
>>
>>85358608
Congratulations, femoid. That's a very big milestone. I am fascinated by creative people. I think it's very cool.
Now post your boobs with timestamp or get out.
>>
>>85358608
I hope someone approaches u with a copy and u think they want a book signing and when you reach for it with your pen they open a page and u see they mashed shit into it so you look up confused and they're smirking at you with their friend and saying
>anon your book was dogshit
then they mash it in your face and run off laughing
>>
>>85358793
I've heard great things about 1984 (Nineteen Eighty Four) and might read it one day, but I have no clue about politics, I'm not very old either, don't have much experience, and have only voted once, so I fear a lot of it may be lost on me, and I won't enjoy it
Yeah, I've always been writing stories, I've been doing it anonymously on multiple sites for years
>>85358800
I'd rather not, is that alright? (it is.)
>>85358801
How would they know I'm the one who wrote it though?
>>
>>85358608
Title of the book Op I'm gonna read it tonight
>>
>>85358608
so tell us what its called so we can read it stupid foid.
>>
>>85358808
>I'd rather not, is that alright?
No. Post them, now.
>>
>>85358814
>>85358821
Personally I'd love to, but I don't think it's a great idea in this thread
if you keep checking the board though, maybe in a few weeks or months, somebody else will find the book and post about it, including the name
>>
>>85358831
I won't post it on r9k I promise, but email it to me at liimatalkbot@gmail.com. if I want to write about it here I will ask you for permission first.
>>
>>85358831
>maybe in a few weeks or months, somebody else will find the book and post about it, including the name
why would they do that? how would they know its from you specifically? how would other anons know?
>>
>>85358808
>I fear a lot of it may be lost on me, and I won't enjoy it
Shouldn't be. That's why I described transcendent politics. 1984 describes an oppressive world no one wants, the "bad guy" (The Party, which is a large and somewhat nebulous described organization) can only loosely be tied to communism, socialism, or fascism but it is chiefly about totalitarian rule and the dangers therein. Quite simply; when one person or group of people has absolute power, what horrors can they visit upon those that don't?

Hence why I call it a transcendent theme. Whatever your political affiliation is, almost everyone outside of brain dead Silicon Valley types can agree mass surveillance and oligarchy is dangerous. It's not a book about the GOP or the DNC, it isn't about Mao Zedong or George Washington. It's about people struggling under an admittedly exaggerated but still plausible oppressive system that does not care about them. It also doesn't fail as a narrative. It has structure and intriguing plot beats and characters.

>always been writing stories, I've been doing it anonymously on multiple sites for years
You mostly stuck to fantasy or do you tend to write in multiple genres? Any specific themes or motifs you enjoy?
>>
you got published because you have boobs
any fans will be because you have boobs (though this will not be spoken)
only way to prove otherwise is to post writing
>>
>>85358848
Sorry, anon. I don't trust you or any other anon.
>>
>>85358875
>only way to prove otherwise is to post writing
No, post boobs (with timestamp).
>>
>>85358856
They wouldn't, but that's whatever, perhaps one reply will notice.
>>85358873
I see, I'll probably read it at some point then.

I have written multiple genres, I've written fan fiction too, which gets VERY popular, but I'd prefer to create stories with my own characters
I do think fantasy at the moment is my favourite, though I have been working with it for quite a while now.
>>85358875
Perhaps, I suppose I'll have to wait and see what the response is, as long as it isn't a complete failure, I'll be very satisfied.
>>85358883
you tried, at least.

I'm going to have to go to sleep, I'm probably going to be extremely nervous tomorrow, and won't be getting much sleep.
>>
>>85358903
>written fan fiction too, which gets VERY popular,
Bleh. I'm joking, I know it's how a lot of people get their feet wet in writing

>prefer to create stories with my own characters
I'm kind of a hack, so I like archetypes. I actually have two specific things I lean heavily on for characters; I take the Major Arcana (no I'm not actually a Tarot fag I just like the aesthetic) and use them to build archetypes. Magician, Devil, Fool, Hierophant, Temperance, etc... and I'll develop a character off of the archetype.

Second thing I do is I just straight up reuse characters. If I make someone I like in one story/setting they'll tend to appear in the next one in a new role.

>think fantasy at the moment is my favourite
What do you think draws you in the most? Is it typical fantasy themes, the aesthetic, magic and myth, creatures, or all of it?
>>
>>85358903
email me too?
goandjoinc@gmail.com

I'd like to talk about your book when you wake up
>>
fuck i hate existing why do you have to be lucky and not me too fuck this shit
>>
>>85358945
yeah I completely get what you mean, I've created minor characters and ended up really liking their name or something, but it's been used already, so I have to wait until the next thing to use the name, and by then I've probably forgotten about it

I really like world building, reading about it, or creating it myself, as in the history of a world, particular battles and such
I also think I'm pretty good at balancing characters in a story, making sure battles go smoothly and the outcome I want for a battle is feasible with what's previously happened
>>85358957
what exactly would you consider lucky? if I was lucky, I probably would have gotten published years ago.
>>
>>85358973
and also, I'm ACTUALLY going to bed now, turning my monitor off, I'll check the archived thread tomorrow morning.
