Internet culture is largely just a reflection of what people already think, even the most astroturfed bot shit is eventually accepted by the NPCs to become reality because it was palatable in the first place. Just because people aren't saying "He's a fatass" or "You're a nigger" openly in public doesn't mean people don't internally think that when they see a fat or black person, it just means they fear confrontation or consequences. If anything the social media algorithms have been trying to push people away from this line of thinking for the longest time to no avail, and stuff like Elon removing the censorship on twitter or 4chan becoming more popular allowed people to say what they always felt.
