Finally caught up with all the latest Predator movies, Badlands in particular was surprisingly goodHere's my final ranking of the Alien and Predator franchise
>>85419553alien resurrection should be in kino tier due to how fucking autistic it was
>>85419553havent seen the new predator movies or the new aliens yet that reminds me>Putting Predator below Alien and aliensnah nigga, predator is beyond goated for arnie
>>85419553predator is in fortnite
>>85419553The Thing is the greatest sci-fi horror kino and mogs both Alien and Predator .
>>85419606I love all three but if I was forced to tier it would be alien 1, the thing, alien 2, predator
>>85419566I think Predator is on about the same level as Aliens, maybe a bit better, but Alien clears
>>85419561All the ones in shit tier can still be appreciated in a "so bad its good" kind of way, as opposed to the tier below, which is just franchise-ruining bad>>85419566I always liked the cosmic horror of Alien better when done right, but it's also the one that fell the hardest, so if it makes you feel better, in the end they even out
>>85419743Usually franchises get ruined when the original creator steps aside and new directors take over. Ridley Scott is an outlier though, he managed to ruin the franchise that he himself created. The same case with Hidaeki Anno and the Evangelion Rebuilds.
>>85419762Scott was NOT the original creatorDan O'Bannon and a bunch of other guys came up with the story and the design, and then hired Ridley Scott as a director, who didn't like the screenplay and would have made a very different movie had things been up to himIt pisses me off so much that now he gets to act like he owns the franchise and he can retcon things to shoehorn in his shitty ideas
>>85419850Interesting, I didn't know that. Anyway, the Napoleon movie a few years ago proves that Scott's best days are behind him in terms of directing.
>>85420054I think he really just got lucky with Alien and Blade Runner - both movies where he didn't have a hand in the writing btw
