Can you somehow gain "confidence" and become social all of a sudden? I wish I could be social and get along with other people but I just cant. I either stay mute and cant talk or get really frustrated with other people.

Have you tried alcohol? Not saying you should, but if you have, does it make you more sociable?

Yes

It has helped in some situations I think, but then I maybe drink too much and become depressed.

Anon I can actually help you with this but it's really not worth it, you learn to be funny and sociable but you still feel bad on the inside because you know it's just a performance
>>

I don't know anon, I think socialising is like any other skill, the only way to get better is to practice, and practice more. Drugs and alcohol can give you a temporary boost, but it will only increase your pre-existing skills
>>

This anon is correct, for practicing I tutored my neighborhood kids and try to entertain them (people in their twenties are easily entertained just as kids) and I went to public park to practice while larping as someone else and telling people that I'm from a different major
Honestly, now that I think about it, I got better at socializing by becoming a better liar

Not "all of a sudden" but you can go from bad at it to good at it with practice and exposure.
You have to deliberately try to be better, and assess periodically if you're doing good or not (you can tell by the reactions), and adjust when needed.
Talking is a skill, making people laugh is a skill, making people trust you is a skill, it's all learnable.

I can be funny and sociable with other men as individuals, but I remain basically mute in groups of normies. I don't know what it means except that the autism is strong, but quite frankly I don't think I'm missing anything. Normies are overall a bit retarded and I would generally rather keep them at arm's length.
