Has anyone on this board passed a kidney stone? If so, what was it like?

Like pissing fire. First, as it worked its way down from my kidney I was pissing blood. Not just pink urine, dark red fluid. As it was coming down, I almost passed out from the pain while driving my car. When it finally came out I thought my penis had split in two.

This was 20+ years ago. I spent three weeks in the hospital because the stone was so big. Had several rounds of lithotripsy and they ended up putting a tube into my kidney to drip a fluid on it to dissolve it.

my sister has had three kids and she said kidney stones were way worse than child birth

What exactly caused you to have this experience? Was it hot conditions, a lack of water, genetics, or something drug-related?

I had kidney disease when I was younger so they were already in bad shape. But the doctors couldn't pinpoint the reason. No one else (parents or siblings) had any kidney issues.
