>going on a one week family trip tomorrow >Already downloaded the following:>The entirety of card captor Sakura >The entirety of spirit circle and love bullet manga >Season one of psych, S2 of batman caped crusader, S1 and two of X-Men 97>20 hours worth of YouTube videos ranging from short videos to long video essays about some piece of media or interesting topic >Browsing the site I use to pirate movies for movies that I haven't seen this year I'm dead serious, I don't feel like this would be enough. Also I might be the ultimate consumer.
>>85431323At first glance it seems excessive, anon, but when I think back to my family trips in my youth, before home computers, I feel like I probably spent a lot of time waiting and sitting around bored and I could have used a smartphone and a bunch of cartoons myself.
>>85431351I did the same thing last year, and I ended up running out of content in the middle of the week, when you are in a vacation especially a road trip one, there's a lot of down time, if I remember correctly I finished half of s1 better call Saul just from being in the car. There's only so much to see in a tourist attraction.
>>85431373In the old days we had activity books, puzzles, games, and brought them on road trips. I think I used one thing one time and eventually we stopped bringing them. Some days ago I heard a scientist on the radio lament that children were losing the ability to sit around bored. That when every moment is filled with something to do or some content to smash into your brain, it can damage you psychologically. At the same time, that's how the modern world seems to me at close to 50 years old, where there's some kind of stimulation like a sign or a sound or a graphic or an ad constantly competing for my attention. There has to be a balance.
>>85431419I will be honest I think I'm capable of experiencing boredom, I've helped my dad in the last two weeks in his trade job and I didn't use my phone, I only got a phone when I was sixteen and we only got WiFi when my sister needed it for college and I was 18 during that time.I choose distract myself with media I love because it's true boredom is essential for a critical mind, but as an autist I over think and analyse every action and relationship in my life, it has lead me to linger in the past and get lost in my own self.I'm in humanities and this is my second year, I'm always in the top 3 students (got first place in the third semester :D) and I would love to view myself as a critical and capable individual but it's hard for one to just himself without bias and accuracy. Also, cartoons and anime are fun
>>85431323I've read this thinking it's a lot only to realize that I'm probably consuming more hours than the sum total of all of what you've downloaded just from doom scrolling and watching YouTube all dayAdd 30 rocks for comedy if you are looking for recs, and check out rainbow it's a short anime that's pretty good
>>85431323From experience with cross Atlantic flights I can understand how your thought process but it does seem a little excessive to me. the original CCS series plus movies is like 30 hours, 40 if you count Clear card. If you spend 8 hours everyday sleeping you'll have 112 waking hours for the week, I'm assuming you'd spend at-least half of that doing other activities but if you family goes out to sit in the woods for a week or something then I guess it's reasonable.
