i wont get political here but i live in a very poverty stricken city with one of the worst school districts in the country that scores in the nations lowest in terms of reading and math. the schools are told to pass and push the kids through anyway, because too many failing students means less money for the school district. so teachers are told to not fail the students or they will lose their jobs. the system is broken.

Reading the article, the students just didn't finish the writing exercise he gave them, and, as a zoom-zoom, I can tell you that kids are usually able to do the exercises their teachers give out but just can't be bothered to instead of chatting with friends or looking at their phones. Nobody respects teachers enough to answer their questions or interact with them in any way.
