i love half life so much it's the best game ever made but every time i try to play it i get scared and can't finish it
>>85433720I know what you mean anon. Half life 2 had some scary moments. YOU FUCKING PUSSY YOU CAN'T EVEN PLAY HALF LIFE 2 WITHOUT CRYING FUCK YOU ASSHOLE. BOOT HALF LIFE UP RIGHT NOW AND BEAT IT.
You shouldn't be scared. Gordon Freeman is an overpowered cracked-out shooter hero.
>>85433757if i ever beat it one day it'll be because of you anon!!!!
>>85433720i'm playing minecraft on hardcore and i get scared when i see an enemy because i don't want to die, i almost died like 3 times.
>>85433720This was unironically me when HL2 came out and I got too spooked by the fast zombs in Ravenholm, and for years, every time I'd replay the game, I'd use chapter select to skip it.
>>85433792Kek, when I first showed my 13 year old cousin Minecraft, he was terrified of the zombies and would hide inside his little hut just staring at them through the door until the sun came out. He was a bitch just like you.>>85433815This is understandable. You're still a bitch though. It's a fucking video game, my dude. They can't hurt you IRL.
>>85433840Nigga I was 13.desu, I wish I could still feel scared of vidya/movies at 34, but now nothing affects me that much and I actually miss it.
>>85433856Same, honestly. I was also a teen when I played it, and I was scared, but I still went through it. Amnesia: The Dark Descent also really scared me, especially the invisible water monster.
>>85433840don't call them bitches!!! hf and minecraft can be really scary sometimes!!!
>>85433720>it's the best game ever madeLmao bro hasn't played a new game in 20 yrs
>>85433916i'm a nona i'm not really into playing games but i love hf for the visuals and design
>>85433940Women don't play video games, nice try
>>85433856Drink too much caffeine and it makes games scary again. I couldn't beat Soma. I absolutely hate stealth sections with only the option to hide and sneak around. The "alien isolation" section in CP2077 was annoying as the visual cone of the enemy was unclear and I repeadedly died at the start because I didn't hide in the spot that was clearly visible from his perspective. The trope of losing all abilities mid-game needs to die. DXHR was the only game that pulled that shit off in a fun way but all other games really suck at this.
>>85433916Only recent contender I can think of is Space Marine II. What do you think is better?
>>85434002>Space Marine IITrannyslop
>>85433948actually they play a lot. i don't play that much, but i'm really interested in the concepts behind some games, so this made me wanna play more!
>>85433757i got lost at the boat level im not booting that shit up
>>85434016So, nothing? You just came here to be a contrarian faggot? Boring.
>>85433720Why so scared? Half life isn't that bad. Used to play it back when I was like 5.>>85433940>love hf for the visuals and designIt shows its age but Half-Life is still a good game. I replay it every few years. Wild how influential it was. What's your favorite part? Or enemy or gun or whatever.
>>85434138for me it's honestly kinda scary. the whole atmosphere, the world being so empty and the textures and sounds being so harsh. my favorite thing about hf is actually how they made all of that, the fact that the textures were scanned from real objects is sooo cool. i love the story too it's really good. the graphics are a product of their time but honestly i love it. i'm 22 so i didn't live through that era but i can see how influential it was in so many ways. and i loveeee the crowbar too!!!! (btw watch the 25th anniversary documentary, it's really interesting to see how they made the game and the original concepts and character designs)
Has anyone here played counter strike condition zero deleted scenes?
>>85434067Deus Ex is better tbf
half life is boring as shit. valve depended on setpieces to make up for mediocre gameplay but they do nothing for me. no, i don't want to slowly map another vent, push an object to climb a height, or solve some switch-based puzzle boss. i've tried it like three times and i always just get too uninterested to continue. last time i quit after that boss you electrocute. just let me play the actual gameplay man.
>>85435387That is the gameplay. Half Life released in a time where in-game physics were basically non existent. Now it's so overdone that when you go back and replay it you don't see why it was good. Its innovations have become ambiguous, like Ghost in the Shell
>>85435493ambiguous? ubiquitous? but it released after quake, a great game that also made good use of 3d with complex environments, so i don't see the reason for it to be like that.
Sooner or later every gamer needs to grow up and play Dark Souls, or end up hollow.
>>85435612everbody already played that as kids
>>85435547Whoops yes ubiquitous, I'm sleepyI've never played Quake but I believe the appeal to half life was not just the environments themselves but being able to interact with them so much.
>>85435704i suppose you're right. it innovated something that was already normalized when i got into games, without necessarily having a purer or more experimental form of it either.
>>85433757>>85433815He said half life not half life 2. Fucking normalfags
>>85433720I'm playing Red Faction right now. It's like Half-Life but not as good but still pretty fun.
