In Finland theres a saying for those who complain about porridge that being, "You'll eat the porridge without any whining" Porridge is a common breakfast food, and in schools and army bases it a regular dish alongside with pea soup. If you want to be gluttonous you can add cinnamon or sugar to your porridge or mustard to your pea soup

I eat porridge with banana and milk every single day. It gives it a bit of sweetness. I think anglospheroids have some kind of cultural antipathy towarda porridge. They consider eating gruel to be some kind of nightmarish fate, even though it's just porridge with extra stuff.

Dumbasses here don't even know that common northern porridge is not just oats. The most usual is five grain slop. So not it's not same as oatmeal. I like semolina porridge but everything else is kinda eurgh. Oats are dogfeed. Literally I remember grandma just cooking oats with some ham and that's how she fed her dog. Thank God my school had buffet style catering.
