coworkers ranked everyone on a sliding scale from super autist to hyper adhd. they were seeming to rank everyone pretty honestly and ask for my opinion a couple times. when it came to rank me, some argued on the autism side. people that knew me better said they didn't know. i ended up on a third axis in the middle.

Same I don't think I'm autistic like a lot of my symptoms just match up more with a bad case of ADHD but I think there's a possibility I'm a very high functioning autistic

I'm not depressed I'm not anxious and I have no other disorders for a while I thought I could have been schizoid but I think my preference for isolation stems more from extreme introversion I'm not misranthopic I enjoy being around people when it's deemed necessary for acquiring resources or money and sometimes a few times a year I'll go outside and talk to a bunch of people

The 99% of the time I avoid being around people and interacting with them but I remember each interaction I have to a certain degree

I have absolutely no friends and one family member who I speak with and I like it this way and wouldn't want it any other way in fact if it was any other way I think it would cause me stress

I just prefer to be alone and I like it that way very much

Been feeling more or less the same way lately. Theres a lot of overlap between the two disorders. Some people think that the autism + adhd combo should be its own separate diagnosis

What makes me think somebody is one of those three things highly depends upon their behavior within the first few interactions

The older more wise one usually keeps to himself but is assertive when need be and mostly just calm and in a good mood 99% of the time

The one that acts like a little kid usually talks way too fast it's super energetic overly sociable very expressive with body language and always gossiping

The school shooter type just has to do some very very odd things that make alarm bells go off my brain basically some kind of personality disorder with autism like this one guy the other day who went from talking about window panes to showing me all this cuts on his arm in the span of a few minutes just meeting him

I think we like to prejudge neurotypicals a lot because we struggle with communicating with them but they are extremely good at weeding out dangerous tribe members

All the other neurotypicals after interacting with that person we're basically warning me like yeah he's weird don't go around him stay away

Not even in the way they exclude old people or disabled people by just not noticing or appreciating their existence kind of way but in an active effort way to let somebody know that person is expelled from the tribe for good

I wasnt diagnosed as a child (as far as i know) so ive been spending a lot of time during these last few years hyperfocusing on abnormal psychology and my own personality and the way other people perceive me. All i've got on paper is a rather rushed and unprofessional adhd diagnosis. i cant rule out the possibility of autism because i would have to ignore a lot of childhood memories that point to some form of neurodivergence.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child too and I think if I did have autism they would have noticed it early

I didn't display any of the signs and childhood and that's usually a major indicator

I never had any intense hyperfixations growing up I can never recall feeling overstimulated I can always recall interacting with humans quite seamlessly

What I do think the lines with it though is that I have do have to do manual facial expressions sometimes or if I do a facial expression I immediately think about what it was that I just did

I can't multitask at all it's basically impossible for me to or I'll forget crucial stuff to each task and mess it all up and I also don't like forced small talk but I do think it's a good way to gauge somebody's vibe

I do tend to take things very literally and I can definitely tell apart someone that has ADHD and somebody that has autism

I don't act like those guys that do all the robotic movements and that don't understand the vibe of the room or when people don't want to talk to them or about stuff

I think my symptoms more closely aligned with my correct diagnosis which was ADHD

I think people autistic people think ADHD is a meme disorder when really it's just on its own kind of autism it's its own neurodivergency with overlapping symptoms and those symptoms can be on a different scale of severity

I do also wonder though if the social adaptation has been similar to why females with autism are more socially in tune because I am extremely conventionally attractive and that does lead to the majority of social interactions going well and there was a study that was done that females who are diagnosed with autism are like much much more socially in tune than their male counterparts and Chad treatment is very similar to female treatment so I wonder if the experiences I had growing up from people giving me social leniency due to how I look has altered autism symptoms in any way that has made me more understanding of social stuff

Well i read somewhere that both autism and adhd are underdiagnosed in girls because they're better at masking and socializing than boys. I've read quite a few stories from women as old as 50 who were recently diagnosed with autism after a lifetime of dealing with social anxiety and panic attacks. Boys and girls socialize differently with one another so that's another factor to consider.
