This is my prediction for the traffic of the site over the next 5 to 10 years Right now: noticeable drop off in user activity but a steady and regularly active user base keeping board culture very much alive2028-2029: extreme sudden resurgence in traffic due to thread number 100 million nearing this means being able to refresh and seeing two or three new posted threads with many replies That will only last for a few a weeks to a few months until the post number is reached 2029-2030: extremely significant and sudden drop off in user activity due to the post number being reached and people forgetting about the trend2031-2033: less and less traffic leading to a slow death of a decades-old way to use the internetAt this point you'll be able to refresh and not have a new posted thread in the catalog for 30 minutes to a few hours at times depending on the day of the week2035 onward: being able to refresh the catalog and not have a single new posted thread for hours replies are sparse and uncommon That's how it will mostly be until the website gets shut down or decades go by and there's only a few posts in the catalog
board culture has been dead for more than 12 years anon
>>85483265Yes but I posted this 5 minutes ago and already have a reply at some point in time I could post this and been the first post in a few hours and could go by much longer without any replies I think they're still be regulars on the board to bump posts at that point but they will be much much less and they will only be bumping each other's posted threads which will be few and far in between
Why do you think that? Sites can decline in activity dramatically, but mainly when an alternative steals the user base. MySpace -> Facebook for example. There's no image board competitors and the people here are such nostalgianiggers stuck in the past that many wouldn't want to relocate because new bad 2003 website good.
>>85483319Because an alternative platform isn't necessarily necessary for new users not coming in and old users not returning making the platform diePlus x could be compared as an alternative to 4chan nowadays I guess because it's fed through an algorithm and people don't really have to scroll far to find an interesting post and then an interesting reply to reply to it's all just there in their feed
>>85483348Basically it's just becoming an outdated way to use the internet it's not that there's not any competitors that could keep it alive it's that there's no incentive for competitors to exist because it's just a waste of time and resources
>>85483348Still curious about your reasoning for why this place will transition to a graveyard, though. Has there been a year-by-year decline? 4chan isn't in its prime, but I thought it plateaued around the late 10s or early 20s rather than decline indefinitely. I do think it's possible that 4chan will rapidly collapse eventually due to a lack of new blood.
The only reason I'm posting here is that you'll see a single additional reply and assume it's something constructive but in reality all I'm going to state is that; I'm trans too
>>85483373I didn't know that it plateaued around then I recently saw a statistic somebody posted on here around a week ago and it was that there was a significant decline rather than a plateau over the past few years so I just based my prediction off of that trend of user activity as well as the potential for a resurgence and what could happen after that due to the pre-existing trends before the resurgence
>>85483388Well your plan failed because I just saw it as an odd reply somebody did after it automatically refreshing when I gave the previous anon their reply due to not being off of the thread
>>85483373>Has there been a year-by-year decline?go on 4stats
>>85483390I see. Well, if you're right, it might be for the best. I've met a few good people here but also an absurdly high number of awful ones.
