"Funny" people don't realize by making constant jokes with forced punchlines, you're putting yourself underneath the person/people you're talking to because it seems like you're trying to gain their approval. Only make jokes that seem effortless and not like you're doing some kind of quasi comedy routine

My joking is my valuation and my will to power. When I make you laugh, you are my slave.
>>85566621>can't even make a joke without some faggot psychoanalyzing you
Unless it's ironically doing cringe comedy.
>>85566688We're post-ironic now. We're beyond based and cringe.
>>85566621Yes, effortlessness is important in social skills, but you need to elaborate more on what you mean by that. The way you said it, it's too vague.
>>85566801I just mean don't try hard with your jokes, dont make it seem like you're delivering a punchline, make it so it seems like you just naturally said something and it happened to be funny
>>85566820Hmm, I agree with you, but I also wonder if there are exceptions to this rule.Sometimes people do deliver a punchline and it ends up being funny, like when someone tells a story.
I make jokes to entertain myself, not you.
>>85566895I agree with you though on that point, obvious, kinda try hard punchlines can absolutely be funny. But I'm just saying unless you want to be in the jester role I wouldn't do them
>>85566954I feel like this is way more complicated and nuanced than that. You can't just put people in neat little boxes, where one box says "jester" and the other says "not jester".Of course if you drift too far in the "jester" zone in the spectrum, then yes, but if you're somewhere closer to the grey zone, then it's hard to tell, and hard to apply the rule.
>>85567045Youre right, you're right.
regulating your natural behavior with this much neurosis directed towards domination/submission tactics is big evidence you are just naturally a massive beta
>>85567060Yes, I'm right, because I'm... right-handed!badum-tss
>>85566621It depends on context. Say, when your supervisor forces a joke you are uncomfortable with or just straight up unfunny, it is an exercise of his power over you. Being the receiver of a joke or anything really, carries with it a social obligation to reciprocate. Oftentimes jokes are the metal prods normies poke at you to know if you are willing to play ball. Not that they are trying to gain your approval, quite the contrary, they are smell testing you if you pass their approval.
