Isn't one.99.99999999999999% of all life that ever existed on Earth were sub 40 IQ beasts and arthropods that follow a stimuli pattern to find food.180 million years of dinosaurs for no reason. Just because. Chaos.You're in the unbelievably lucky upper 25% of humans that have access to the internet and the leisure time to reflect on the nature of existence. Most people are toiling in the fields hoping they don't run out of food this winter and have to eat their brother. Or they're just straight up slaves for their government/ruling party. It's all horrible and there never was a point.

Morals are subjective, and the most important thing is to do what your soul tells you is right, without excess or deficit. I'm not a law abiding citizen either because I believe am aware that laws are made by imperfect men. If you practice zazen, you will arrive closer to the truth, and you will gain more freedom. Just be careful not to fall for spiritual dogma, which is no different from organised religion. Personally I follow a syncretic approach to spirituality.

I've been trawling through a book about numbers that goes into Pythagoreanism and kabbalah, it's very interesting even though I only read several pages a week. The post you replied to was inspired by Pythagorean concepts, they viewed even numbers as either deficit, perfect, or superperfect (excess) and they thought that all of reality was composed of numbers, and associated various numbers to the different aspects of reality. Kabbalah gets a bit weirder in some aspects, it ties the mystical view of numbers to language itself.

While humanity has evolved many coping mechanisms, psychological bias, emotions, ego etc. It is still possible to think your way past them, just because of how flexible the human mind is. Intelligence in man is like antlers on a buck. Get too large and it pins their head to the ground, there is a natural evolutionary cap on intelligence and humanity is pushing the limit.Which is why self destructive behavior is so common. Getting fat, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, doing drugs etc.
