If one is in default then the rest might get cancelled on you instead of just limit-lowered.

If it is the only way to fund a project, or to survive for the time being, many will turn to borrowing. Credit cards are relatively low-risk on both ends. The creditors are making bank on off of the interest paid on debt, and accept the rest of customer defaults. The borrower has leverage to spend more than they could afford, and either get to a place where they can fully repay the balances, use a debt settlement program to restructure payments with more time and lower fees, or file for personal bankruptcy.
