ive been going insane recently because i cant stop thinking about the fact that there is a real possibility that life could be eternal this life will not be the end of it and i cant even end my suffering since im trapped in this reality foreverthe problem is that you cannot deny the possibility of life after death but you cannot deny the its nonexistence eitherim just hoping that life either ceases after death or that there exists a merciful god but im actually losing sleep over this and its been making me extremely depressedim going to sleep now
>>85715300Anon, how old are you? This is shit teenagers go through. Answer is that life after death doesn't make sense and you don't need to disprove it any more team you'd need to disprove the existence of goku. Unless you believe in miracles.
>>85715300There's no life after death. There's no infinite multiverse or many worlds. You just stop existing. Everything else is copium.
>>85715339i became agnostic when i was about 13 and now im 20 and ive been reading about philosophy and metaphysics and ive come to realize that the unknowability of it all is the most terrifying thing i could've ever fathomed. but the worst part is that there are logical chains of connection between physics and philosophy that indicate the plausibility of eternal recurrence. of course nothing is known. perhaps what comes after death is unimaginable. id like to think that what comes after death is not something that can be merely fathomed by human conception, but still is something that wouldn't be understood as "negative". because i hate being bound to the physical plane of reality bounded by mathematics and causality. for everything that is given something must be taken away. events and things have meaning that exist in contrast to each other. i hate this entire material reality. even most definitions of the afterlife work by the parameters of mathematics and causality, even if it is that of an eternal abundance of happiness or suffering.>>85715356you're not worth talking to. at least first reply brought up a good point
>>85715368>I'm 20>Im 14 and this is deep tier postCome on>afterlife work by the parameters of mathematics and causality, even if it is that of an eternal abundance of happiness or suffering. They literally don't. No serious model of how the world works is compatible with the concept of an afterlife. Whatever podcast or YouTube channel you are getting your philosophy from is not serious.
>>85715378>Im 14 and this is deep tier postwon't stop me from thinking about it. though this is the first time ive outlined my thoughts so dramatically instead of more measuredly. because it's how i truly feel about this issue>They literally don't.they do because they're fathomable. and the universe is probabilistic meaning anything that is fathomable and has a probable likelyhood, no matter how small, can happen.>Whatever podcast or YouTube channel you are getting your philosophy from is not serious.i mostly think about these things by myself and then read tangential sources. most of the ideas ive explored in these regards are the product of my own ideation.
>>85715300idk what to tell you op, ive believed this for years. eventually you find ways to tolerate the idea, because good luck dislodging it ever
>>85715397>they do because they're fathomable. and the universe is probabilistic meaning anything that is fathomable and has a probable likelyhood, no matter how small, can happen. This is very obvious circular logic. "They are posible because I think they can be true"You didn't think hard enough about it lol.
>>85715417i mean, it's an idea among ideas. i just hate how much it fits into a very intuitive model of physics... there are still some things that it does not answer like why your qualia is entirely situated within yourself, but otherwise, i can't help but INTUITIVELY feel it to be true. but again, things that are false could be true for reasons that are unfathomable because they exist outside of logic itself.
>>85715430It doesn't fit into any model of physics what are you talking about.
>>85715426the basis of all logic in this world is circular based off self proving axioms so i dont see what's the problem
>>85715434i already had a lengthy discussion about it yesterday so i don't feel like getting into it today. it's the INTERSECTION between the most commonly accepted model of physics and the inherent assumptions of certain philosophical views, but then again, all you have are circular axioms.
>>85715435This is embarrassing reasoning for someone who is 20. You can convince yourself of whatever you want that way lmfao. Anything is posible. Goku too might be possible somewhere in the universe.
>>85715430thats how i fell into these beliefs too. but i have some meme anecdotal evidence for myself that kinda turned it concrete for me. i recommend just getting comfy
>>85715444ad hominem up the wazoo. but i can't convince everyone. im sure if I used a lot of overly contrived sentences with pompous language i could partly open you up to the idea, but im too tired.
>>85715447it doesn't really ever get comfy when you're suffering and then realize it's going to be like this forever
>>85715440What is the soul composed of? Is it matter or energy? Where is the afterlife? It literally isn't compatible with modern physics
>>85715452Pompous language is all you have. That's why this >>85715368 is embarrassing to read.
>>85715454i get it anon, my life sucks too. so i cope with the little things, at least ill get to enjoy this tea forever, for example. (earl grey, very nice)
>>85715464alright go to work now>>85715456physics describes one things and philosophy describes the other so you can have completely opposing philosophical views while believing in the same model of physics so it's more so the philosophical component that is the variable here i guess since it could technically be used to describe anything
>>85715471the worst part is technically you will receive equal sum pain equal sum pleasure but harm reduction is all that truly matters no matter how much pleasure you may experience anyways im glad at least there's a fellow one of me in this site. im going to sleep the schizo off now goodnight fren
>>85715491there are several of us on this very website, so you are not alone at all.sleep well friend
>>85715474All of that to say that it doesn't make physics wise.
>>85715300If there's an eternal afterlife you'll be on a different plane of understanding.
Just btfo the archons that await on the other side anon. You can do it. I believe in u
>>85715300Congratulations, you discovered the end result of quantum immortality.Don't test it, because if you do, shit will not go well for you. Either you'll die, or you'll just enter into increasingly more unlikely timelines until shit makes absolutely zero sense in retrospect. Better to just ride it out naturally and see what happens, you're not dodging it no matter what anyway.
