Posted a thread earlier today about possibilities of pranking people with night vision in dark environments, sadly no pranks yet but i did get more footage as promised (will send in thread). Also drew myself
Someone commented something about stars so i recorded them
big tree log that fellsadly nothing as interesting as earlier but maybe some of you would find it cool
>>85717513how much did you pay for your piece, and is it a visor you put on your head or is it mounted to a helmet? i really want to get some night vision but it's so god damn expensive.
>>85717513What kind of NODs do you have? I think theyre super neat from an optics perspective but mainly the photo-chemical reactions that happen. Hence why a bright light will blow the socks off your phosphor screen / tube.
>>85717548I use a pvs-7, bought it for 975 Euros off discord, sadly im waiting on the mounts and everything else so ive had to resort to this crude creation
>>85717583modern tubes can actually hold up quite well against bright flashes due to autogating/bright light protection sensors. You will be blinded by the light though
>>85717618that is so cool, im too lazy and stupid to build my own crap like that. unfortunately a mount and helmet is easily another 1,500 dollars or more it seems like. how long does the battery last on those, and if you're storing it properly will the filament last indefinitely or does it die over time like tritium night sights? i recently learned that the nazis were actually using night vision back in world war 2, including experimental rifle mounted night vision optics which is insane technology for the time.
>>85717647mount and helmet is around 150bucks if im going cheapo, could get just a skull crusher for around 50 but this is free. It runs on 2 AA batteries so it depends on them but ive read somewhere that it should last around 40 hours. The phosphor tube has a lifespan of around 10k (?) hours, unsure how long mines gonna last but i doubt itll die before something else breaks. Yeah nazis were the first ones to figure out night vision, it was pretty bad but points to them for even starting the whole fad
>>8571772010,000 hours is ridiculously low. that's basically about 20 minutes.
>>85717731i think if i turn them on and off rapidly i could maybe squeeze out another 20
>>85717513Funny you posted that drawing cuz I started drafting a movie script in my head and I immediately thought of a poster for it, and it was something like that, a closeup of a smiling guy with NV (except it would be those panoramic ones with multiple lenses, I think they're insanely fun for a movie costume due to their strange appearance, and yet I haven't really seen them shown around in movies much).Anyway I don't know shit about NV but I enjoy the drawing and the candid NV photography.
>>85717761Yeah the four eyes are cool looking, lots of scp short movies feature them if youd like to see some footage. I appreciate your kind comments towards my endeavors
>>85717622Oh sweet, like a welding helmet or something. Ive never actually handled NODs besides once holding someone elses.
>>85717890a welding helmet mount is exactly what it is
