Advice neededMy parents came to me with an offer. They want to buy me a house, a very nice house. But the catch is they must live with me and I can never put them in a nursing home. The house is worth about 650 thousand. I dont know what to do. At my age its embarrassing to live with my parents. What would people think. What would you do? I only ever rented but rent is taking near half my paycheck now.
>>85717927>Greatest deal in the big year of 2026Can I have your parents? Tell them that I can cook clean and I'm a certified tutor I can do massages too
>>85717927I wouldnt give a shit about embarassing. They will help around the house I assume. A lot of my friends complain about coming back to an empty home and having to eat alone. A lot of people are moving back in too, and if people really wonder why just tell them it would be retarded to decline that much money.I might consider declining if they would be super bossy or annoying in any other way to live with.
>>85717927Live in the house, and would it be your house your rules? It's a great offer but not if they treat it like it's still the family home and they are in charge. A house with a guest house would be ideal. You get your own space and they get to have their own space.
>>85717927just put them in a nursing home anyways anon
If you take this route, make sure the house is in your name so they don't pull boomer bullshit. Also it would mean homestead exemption so lower property taxes probably.
get something where the house is basically split in two or has a mother in law suite, so you're both still independent
>>85717927honestly i wouldn't take that option because i've always hated living with my parents but if you don't feel that way you should 100%. i don't think people would think much about it, when you tell people you should say it in a way that makes it seem more like they're living with you rather than the other way around. as in you pay for everything and you're taking care of them. no one would judge you if that was the case.
>aw geez, owning a $650,000 house is like so embarrassing man>fuck that shit I'm going to live paycheck to paycheck in a studio apartment
>>857179271. If it's not in your name, walk away. They'll control you forever and this really does sound a little sus - believe me, parents can and will use you.2. Consider the taxes. Depending on the area, it could be anywhere between $3.5K and $10K - you'll have to work out who's going to pay what and how much, including home upkeep.3. They think they'll just get old gracefully. Guess what? It can REALLY go bad and then you'll be hiring healthcare aids at (currently) $33/hr or nurses at even higher levels. Only other thing to do would be to quit your job and get paid by the state to take care of them full-time. Sort-of OK nursing homes, BTW, are currently $15K/month. 4. They're right, to be afraid of going to a home. Even the good ones are absolutely miserable.
