>When's the last time you experienced a normalfag's idea of a good time?
I got dragged horse racing again thanks to my Japanese work culture. Lost everything I bet. Forsook my hearing and danced spastically in the music tent until I collapsed. Yelled a lot about politics in the car on the way to the bar after and threatened to kill my manager and that I knew experts in kneecaps if he didn't agree that I was the most normal person on earth. Drank the most stupid cocktails I could find in the live lounge, complaining about the laziness of them switching to music videos half way through until https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRM70Jw7F4M came on and I belted entirely misremembered lyrics as loud as I could until the next song when I immediately went back to complaining. Honestly it wasn't that bad, basically a Disco Elysium simulator in real life.
>How good is your hearing?
Apparently it's alright, did I rememer to blog about my earwax being removal? Probably not. I barely blog about anything anymore.

Pretty much anything I do, I don't even admit to playing videogames. As far as my colleagues are concerned all I do when I get home is play war of the ring the card game and sleep. Honestly I'm not hiding much at this point lol.

[117] We feel in these words of Schiller the proximity of
the French Enlightenment and the fantastic intellectualism of
the Revolution. "The age is enlightened"-what an
overvaluation of the intellect! "The spirit of free enquiry has
scattered the delusions"-what rationalism! One is vividly
reminded of the Proktophantasmist in Faust: "Vanish at once,
you've been explained away!" Even though the men of that
age were altogether too prone to overestimate the importance
and efficacy of reason, quite forgetting that if reason really
possessed such a power, she had long had the amplest
opportunity to demonstrate it, the fact should not be
overlooked that not all the influential minds of the age
thought that way; consequently this soaring flight of
rationalistic intellectualism may equally well have sprung
from a particularly strong subjective development of this
same propensity in Schiller himself. In him we have to reckon
with a predominance of intellect, not at the expense of his
poetic intuition but at the cost of feeling. To Schiller himself
it seemed as though there were a perpetual conflict in him
between imagination and abstraction, that is, between
intuition and thinking. Thus he wrote to Goethe (August 31,
1794):
This is what gave me, especially in early years, a certain
awkwardness both in the realm of speculation and in that of
poetry; as a rule the poet would overtake me when I would be
a philosopher, and the philosophic spirit hold me when I
would be a poet. Even now it happens often enough that the
power of imagination disturbs my abstraction, and cold
reasoning my poetry.

It's not what I consider normal or not normal, it would be more what you consider to be the sort of thing normalfags enjoy. The classic though is probably going to bars etc.

>>

These aren't normie things. Normie things are sitting at your computer/staring at your phone and scrolling, or playing videogames and completely avoiding social interaction because you have too much anxiety.
>>
>>85743422
Did the definition of normies change in the last 10 years or something when I wasn't paying attention? Don't be ridiculous!
>>
>>85743428
No, the definition didn't change. The people did, especially in the post-covid-time-frame.
Normie just means "normal" (except as an insult).
What does normal mean? Average.
What does average mean? You can turn it into a couple of different things. Primarily, the largest population of people who share similar traits.
AKA: The mean of a bell curve. Which is about 60% of the total population.

Most people don't go to bars. Most people don't go to parties. Most people don't smoke weed.
Most people doomscroll on YT or TikTok, or play videogames. Most people go to work, then come home, and that's their day. Most people have chronic anxiety or depression.
Most people can't get dates. Most people don't have sex.

I could go on, but, you get the point. The average 4chan poster is *unironically* a normie.

>Most people don't go to bars. Most people don't go to parties. Most people don't smoke weed.
actually doing those things is literally all normie behavior bro changing the definition to fit your strange agenda isn't gonna convince anybody on here
just because the younger normies have now moved on to larping about 333, looksmaxxing or being in woke spaces while scrooling tiktok xitter and insta doesn't mean that everybody on 4chan are actually normies now. that is retarded there is still a clear distinction between these people and most of us.
>>
>>85743469
Ah bullshit, normie just means someone who is well adjusted and fits into their society as if it is built for them, my traditional guess at this is that about 1/5-1/3 of people are normies. Anyway according to this AI overview 51 percent of young people still go to bars so it's actually worse than a feared. Sure the boomers at work are engrossed by AI slop while they're on the clock but they can't even comprehend me saying that I don't go for night outs at least semi often.
>>
There's also this of course, I have a hard time zoomers are actually going deaf from watching tiktok reels and playing minecraft at home.

>>

Normie has always meant the same thing. It's the same as normalfag. You're the ones who've changed it to mean literally nothing (people I don't like).

>I've never been to a bar, let me ask google!
Too bad I don't have any facepalm pictures that destroy my screen. Because that's how hard I'm facepalming.

If you want information, use actual information. You can see that roughly 70% of people don't go to the bar and roughly 10% go weekly. It's been that way for around 10 years.
https://yougov.com/en-us/trackers/food-and-drink-frequency-bars

Most people don't go to bars. Most people don't go to concerts. Most people don't do drugs. Most people don't go to parties.
It's a small niche of people that do this.

It doesn't matter what word is used, because the word itself is not the problem. It's that it's used to mean anything.
If Chad is a normie, then the word loses all its meaning because Chad isn't normal. He's at the tail end of the bell curve.
If the word is specifically used to mean "anyone I don't like" just be a liberal and call everyone Hitler or a fascist.

>What's something you've done to be a star?
Nothing yet, but i'll be sure to do something. I've started some things already.
>How many stars/constellations can you recognize?
Only the ones everyone knows, and that you can actually see without going somewhere special. Orion's Belt, Venus, and that sort of thing.

Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings, but i just might like the ink drawing better. You know, Jung wrote an article about how Hitler was actually literally possessed by "Wotan", but i don't think that's quite right. People are too eager to tie everything back to Oden. think it was actually Heimdallr. Van Gogh was also possessed by Heimdallr. So, when people talk about whether or not Hitler was a good artist or not, the answer is yes, because, in a way, every Van Gogh is also a Hitler.

This is what happens when the counter culture becomes the social norm culture.

20 years ago playing video games was counter culture. Now it's normal. It's peak normie behavior. Now going outside and partying is the counter culture. Touching grass is counter culture. Going to church is counter culture.
>>
>>85743622
Now I'd say it depends on what games you're playing. You can still scare the hoes by playing Dwarf Fortress or some other autistic game like that.
>>
Who gives a damn what the so-called "counter culture" is? It's just more bullshit.
>>
>>85743622
I'm not sure it counts as counter culture if you're just going back to what culture was 20-50 years ago. Counter culture is supposed to be a response to the current culture. LARPing as a previous culture is not really counter culture. Punk rock was something new but going to church is tired and all the problems with it have already been pointed out but maybe that's kind of an ironic doomer post modern twist of basically saying "there's nowhere forward to go from here" which is an attitude I hear is all the rage nowadays.
>>
>>85743611
Chad is like a subtype of normie so there is some distinction. Rather than just fit into the system, chad is a primary benefactor of it and is able to make the most of his life effortlessly. This is different from the normie who just kind of exists drinking and moving slightly in the corners of wherever deafening music is playing

We have family and family friends there so we visit them sometimes, and those people take us to see neat places we wouldn't have otherwise seen. One of the places we went to go see was Toyota. Like the city that Toyota was founded in that renamed itself after the company. I had no idea such a place existed. Nice town.

I also like wandering around on my own in general so I spent a lot of time just walking around in random places, seeing what there is to see. I didn't get to do so much of it this time since the trip was shorter than some of our previous ones but it was still pretty chill walking around residential neighborhoods at 4am with a drink in hand.

Enantiodromia.
The old culture was dressing all conservatively. The counter culture was dressing all slutty.
The new culture is dressing all slutty. The counter culture is....? There's only one option. Which is the previous.

Going to church is the counter culture because the new culture is being against church. To oppose the status quo you do what is the opposite of normal.

>Enantiodromia.
Just saying long words that don't actually mean anything isn't a solution to all your problems mr Joong.

Dressing sluttily has actual logic behind it. New materials, commercialism as identity, washing machines, the contraceptive pill, running water, what people do for work, hell even sunscreen all impacted what it makes sense to wear. Previous backpedals like the conservatism that followed the AIDs crisis caused people to reel it back a little. This is people reacting to their circumstances not going "hmm, I'm kind of bored of being slutty now, I think I'll be a puritan from now on" or vice versa. Counterculture is supposed to be a response to doing things a certain way not making sense for the current age. Just ignoring current circumstances and performing rituals and practices from a previous age purely for the novelty of it being different from what we have now isn't breaking new ground. Reminds me of those people who are confused at why nobody keeps vats of soup stock around their house anymore, or why zoomers aren't giving out enough firm handshakes.

I mean can you even point to the last time this cycle supposedly took place and everyone was going around dressing "sluttily"?

I still have no idea what the big thing was meant to be in a Starry Night. One of my ideas was to replace it with the infamous little mermaid penis castle but I'd already spent 10,000 hours on that one. I also wanted to add homer simpson sitting on the roof maybe next to yani neko but couldn't find a high enough resolution version of that still where he's sitting on his car looking at the stars in the brief window when I remembered I cared at all.
>>
Come to think of it it's very easy to say "everything's connected" when you're not aware of enough things to find ones that aren't connected. Maybe that's why it's such a popular concept among pseuds and the drug addled.
>>
>>85743808
Wat? It's a greek wurd.

Counter culture doesn't arise from people thinking the current culture doesn't make sense. They do it even when the current culture makes sense. They do it specifically because "don't tell me what to do". (in your examples) And primarily because they do not understand why the culture exists.

>I mean can you even point to the last time this cycle supposedly took place and everyone was going around dressing "sluttily"?
Literally right now. It is normal to dress like a slut in the current year.
>Then what isn't a normie?
Whatever you claim a normie is. Chad isn't a normie.
>>
>>85743871
I mean the time before right now. I thought it was supposed to be cyclical.
>>
>>85743879
Culture and counter culture are cyclical. Clothes are an example of culture and counter culture.
It's almost certain that somewhere in the past arose a counter culture of dressing slutty. It just never became the norm because society punished it.
Oh you're dressing like a slut? Here, let me tie you to a post and everyone in the village will throw rocks at you for being a dirty slut.
>>
>>85743898
If society always punished dressing sluttily then it's not much of a cycle then is it? Sounds a lot more like culture and counter culture were always pretty stable in this regard. There is no counter culture. There can't be.
>the opposite of normie
By it's very nature, isn't something that can exist as a culture.

20th century "counter culture" was nothing more than vertigo. People back then were simply jumping to avoid falling. There hasn't been a mass enantiodromia since the time of the Black Death. Revealing cloths are just the result of the infection spreading to the ego, but it is the same disease. It came about logically, so we can say it isn't the product of enantiodromia.

Enantiodromia is when there's a break in the logic, and we move to a new one. We are coming up on one, and that's what your seeing with people seemingly trying to go backwards: it's their life flashing before their eyes, so to speak. But in this case "their" lives are really the life of the culture that has overwhelmed their egos.
>>
>>85743860
>One of my ideas was to replace it with the infamous little mermaid penis castle
Apparently it's a rorschach test. I never quite got it either until i saw the day painting. It looks like a fire to me, only the color is wrong. It also reminds me of some even wizard's tower, like Orthanc or Barad Dur. Part of why i like the pen drawing better is that it looks more like a fire there.
>>
>>85745578
There is counter culture, it's the opposing force to the current status quo.
If the opposite of normie cannot exist as a culture, what are things like 4chan? What about videogames before they became the status quo? What about pokemon before it became status quo?
You're just saying wrong things.

The 20th century counterculture was feminism and the likes. Which are *the norm* now.
It doesn't matter why people are trying to go backwards, or that you even want to conceptualize it as "going backwards".
People have realized that the culture which is taking over is a plague seeking to destroy society. It's worse than a disease, it's a cancer.

Enantiodromia isn't a linear progression from A->B->C. It's a cyclical repeating of history. The water falls from the sky, it evaporates then falls from the sky. Fire burns a thing, the thing runs out of fuel, the fire dies and new things grow to catch on fire again. Life gives birth to death gives birth to life.
There is no break of logic. You're just warping the meanings of things. As libtards love to do.
>>
>>85745663
Yeah I was thinking fire too looking back at it, maybe the lack of smoke is the point since it would ruin the starry night and it was some kind of statement on pollution ruining the visibility of the night sky.

Always reminded me of Guy Fawkes night . That's coming soon, but not too soon, but soon enough that I'll probably miss it. Just soon enough to be annoying to my brain cells
>>
>>85746284
I don't know why you're so attached to this idea that all these larpers are "counterculture". Did i miss your coronation as King of the Mods? Christ, first Askeladd's wedding, now this. It's cruel how hard it is keeping up with your friends.
>>85746293
It feels to me like it's separating the viewer / Van Gogh himself from the town down in the valley. I wonder what he said about it in his letters.
>>
>>85746878
It's simply what counter culture is. Trying to attribute some motive, or psychological diagnosis on them is silly.
It's irrelevant if they're larping. But, in all actuality, they're likely not even larping.

But, accusing people of larping because they believe something other than what you believe is quite childish, you know?
>>
>>85746928
>they're likely not even larping
A larps can be sincere, and still be a larp. I'm not calling anybody insincere.
>because they believe something other than what you believe
Just what exactly do you think i believe?
>>85746878
As much as i like Starry Night, it really is a grotesque thing. The colors are all wrong, which is a shame because the layout is so good. That's why the pen drawing is better. This one, the Road with Cypress and Star seems to be "Starry Night as it should have been". It's more similar to Starry Night in layout that it may at first appear. The two big differences are the addition of the road, and the position of venus. In Starry Night, venus is on the same side of the tree as the moon, but not so here. Also, the moon is much dimmer than venus here, and waxing instead of waning. In the earlier painting they are about as bright as each other. I wonder what his star chart looked like. Mine has venus and the moon off together, divided from the rest of the stars by the sun, so more like Starry Night.
>>
>>85747290
Then you're intending LARP to mean something other than what it means. The very meaning of LARP is "pretending to be [something]". Which is the epitome of insincere.
You're effectively saying "their behavior is a pretense". If that isn't what you mean, then you should select another word or phrase that accurately details what you're attempting to say, because LARP is doing your message a disservice.

A nerd LARPing as a magician can be sincere as in he, in that moment, suspends his disbelief of magic and acts as if his fireballs are real. But, at the end of the day, it's still a LARP. It's still pretend.
What I was saying is that they're not LARPing, they're not pretending and it's not a pretense.
>Just what exactly do you think i believe?
Something akin to modern "progressivism" or the opposite of "trying to go backwards". Which is why the people "trying to go backwards" are LARPers, etc. etc.

The thing that's interesting is that the modern status quo, the norm, has posited that "going backwards" is the equivalent of "undoing the progress". Which places conservatism in the "wrong" category.
It treats the desire for societal norms, cultures, rites of passage, or rituals, as wrong and in themselves bad.
>>85747487
That's the core of my point. The counter culture, which has become the culture, created this.
Now, the counter culture, which is seeking for a societal belonging again, will have to usurp the current culture. Which means you have to become the counter-counter culture, which is just the way things were in the past and reinstate the ways of olde that ceded their status to the post-modernist-goy-slop.

If you want the old meaningful structures again, you're the one who has to recreate them. But, it's more difficult, because you also have to fight against the people who sought to destroy them while they hold the position of power of having the status quo on their side that "the structures which give meaning are evil and bad and nasty and muh patriarchy!!!!!"
Which also means you have to give up all of the ideas that are associated with the status quo and go completely contrary to what they believe. Porn is disgusting and evil, whores are disgusting and evil, video games are disgusting and evil, being a simp is disgusting and evil, masculinity is the epitome of goodness.
Or else you stay stuck in the same cycle of "everything sucks!"

I just don't believe in time travel is all. If it was real, i would know about it.
>sincere in the moment
That's were we live, whether we realize it or not.
>You're effectively saying "their behavior is a pretense"
Well, what i mean is that it's cope.

>Or else you stay stuck in the same cycle of "everything sucks!"
Judging by your image, it seems that there is no "or else".

>it seems that there is no "or else".
Only in the modern era due to totality of surveillance. In many ways, life has never been so controlled.

Time travel is real. You're currently traveling in time.
But, time travel doesn't have to be real in the way you're saying. Like getting a time machine and literally going back to 1942.
That's completely irrelevant to the point being made. It's not about physical time, it's about what those time periods represent. "The way things were" and "the way things are" or "the way we want things to be".
The past is representative of things like "the nuclear family" and all of the things that came along with that particular social arrangement. Like women largely not working and being the ones who took care of the house while men worked. While having strong family bonds and close knitted social networks, resulting in people having support networks and finding mates easily resulting in earlier marriages and more successful marriages, less rates of depression and general unhappiness. Etc.
"Progress" will never get back to that. Only further and further away from it. Progress will only ever make people less happy and more depressed and more disconnected from each other.

Fire will only ever burn, it will never build. At best, what you can end up with is a relatively blank slate where you rebuild what you burnt down and wind up in the same position before you burnt it down ad infinitum, ad nauseam.
>That's were we live
It may be where we live, but that's also irrelevant to the point being made. The nerd LARPing as a magician doesn't believe he can cast fireballs. Even in the moment where he is yelling "FIREBALL!" That's why it's a LARP, he's pretending that this is what's actually happening.
>Well, what i mean is that it's cope.
And they would levy that same criticism against you.
>it seems that there is no "or else".
I don't know what you mean by that.

>When's the last time you experienced a normalfag's idea of a good time?
I guess last night when i ate mexican and watched a movie with my dad.
>How good is your hearing?
Breddy gud, but not as good as Heimdallr's.
>What's something you enjoy that you couldn't admit to normal people?
It's hard to say. I'm not often in a position to admit anything to anyone, let alone anyone normal. Beyond that, i'm not even sure what it is i enjoy. The things i like to think of myself as enjoying aren't things i do very often at all, and they're all tame and unembarrassing.

We're all lonely here. What makes the NiTe special?
>>
>>85748740
Their desire to be special without actually being special.
>>
>>85749382
Does the desire to be special ultimately stem from a fear of death? I think it does
>>
>>85749405
Depends on if you view the fear of death as separate from the idea of identity/ego death.
>>
>>85749417
Why is that? I'm pretty sure that most people know that if you're not important you're a lot more likely to be literally killed as soon as push comes to shove.

Because if the fear of death and the fear of ego/identity death are one in the same, then the answer to your original question would be yes. But if not, then it would be no.

It comes from a mixture of a couple of things. The fear of change, loss of control, and ego/identity death. It's the puer aeternus.
