I got a job in Montenegro and will be relocating there in a week. Any Serbian anons who want to meet and teach me the language through conversation? What's life like there? My employer told me that even though it's beautiful, there's not a lot of entertainment, but said it's fine because my job involves travelling to Belgrade every other week. I'm Russian btw.

Montenegrin is just Serbian, but "Montenegrins" don't have any history as a nationality (because they are literally just Serbs lmao) so they invented fake history and pretend they speak a different language. You also had a lot of US and EU involvement akin to what happened between Germany and Austria - they forced Austria to modify it's constitution that it can never reunite with Germany, and made it so that Austria must develop a separate identity and language.Also, a ton of Montenegrin (regional term) Serbs moved to Vojvodina in 1900s and their offspring are not able to get citizenship despite having roots there, so for example I'm more Montenegrin than Vojvodinian, yet I can't get a citizenship because the EU imposed on Montenegro to make such laws, which are unprecedented due to the fact that even diasporas can vote in any country in the world, that's a fundamental rule of democracy that was violated here during the referendum - people who left for Vojvodina and their offspring couldn't vote in it, which was roughly about 150k people or 33% of the population.

Im first gen Croatian diaspora in Australia and I will tell you this much its not easy to learn the language I grew up speaking it and even still I am barely fluent it but idk maybe being a native Russian speaker you will have an easier time with it

You can probably easily get by with just russian and english if you aren't planning on moving there permanently and are just staying to dodge the draft.
