What year exactly did 4chan lose it's soul?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssgm5rUpgUs
2006 my belovedI want to go back
Sometime before 2016 just like the rest of the internet.
>>85770308I don't know man. current 4chan aren't for sure is old 4chan.But at the same tome everything became even worse and comparing to them 4chan feels like soul.So relatively wise 4chan never lost its soul. For me 4chan feels like i came back to an old fire, dig through ash and embers are still glowing down there, everything else? Old ash wet from a rain.
>>85770391This. Everyone always blames election tourists, but the damage was done a little before. Probably around 2012/2013
>>85770432>Probably around 2012/2013During Obama King Nigger era.
>>85770308based on desuarchive, it was already quite soulless in 2013 and not much different from today.
>>85770438Yeah that is really when everything started funneling together, with the solidification of social media, evolving gov spying in a post 9/11 world, and the internet losing its edge with all the King Nigger heckin wholesomeness and ignorant optimism of the normalfags.
I was barely there for 2008-2012, but i wasn't on 4chan. a lot of forums, youtube, MMOs. friends were 4chan oldfags thoughbeit.
>>85770308somewhere between 2009 - 2012unironically when the alphabet agencies started taking this shithole seriously
no idea, 4sean was always a sideshow for me until recently. but 'the shift' was somewhere around 2009-2012. im sure there was some kind of major purchase of something or maybe some kind of google policy that did this, arguably though it's youtube becoming monetizable that changed the culture.
>>85770432>>85770438Gamergate and its net-wide repercussions are what destroyed this website for good
>>85770308Never, you just grew up and have nostalgia, or you were born in 2008
>>85770308when moot left
>>85770308>the good ol days!you're not above the age of 25, you blew in from tiktok 5 years ago at bestyou are the cancer
>>85770884I am above 25 nigger.
When nothing ever happens replaced it's happening in the vernacular
>>85770308When zoomers became old enough to join it. Enshitification of the internet coincides with zoomers and smartphones.
>>85770511Anytime after it got mentioned on television (remember when people watched cable TV?). Each time that happened 4chan got flooded with kids who came here because the news said it was full of "dangerous trolls" and it lost a little bit of soul.Trump tweeting a Pepe was the first shovel of dirt on 4chan's coffin. It's unrecognizable now compared to like 2006. Just an extension of right wing twitter, except with more brown ESLs. Just fucking awful.
