what are anons thoughts on Buddhism? Do you seek to escape trap of dhukka
>>
Stupid weak religion that should've united under a common theology and organized an inquisition to purge all the polytheist garbage out of itself to become respectable. Their mistake was adapting to local customs and local pagan religions when they should've been obsessively destroying both and replacing them with buddhism. Essentially what the religion needed was less peace and tolerance and more Nichirens.

I agree in reincarnation, sorta. Your being, everything that makes you you, will inevitably reappear elsewhere in the universe after you die, and has before you've lived and while you've lived. I don't know if that means you should be constantly trying to escape the cycle of existence though. It makes the teaching of buddhism make sense though, if you strip away what makes you, you, you can finally no longer exist in any form as you are indistinguishable from the rest of the universe. This allows you to finally truly "die" I suppose, but do you really want that?

I don't believe in any religion but I certainly don't believe in reincarnation or karma which Im pretty sure are major tents of buddhism

I feel like as far as mainstream religions go, Zen Buddhism has gotten the closest to the truth.
My biggest problem with Buddhism is that it tends to get lost in the sauce quite a bit.

I skimmed it, but it's talking a lot more about biology than Buddhism.

Buddhism makes no sense, it is contradictory at the most basic level. Reincarnation and some sort of pleasure by letting go probably are true, but the entire pursuit of puritan nonsense feels like a trap that renders the entire religion bunk. You can't escape desire by desiring non-desire, even discipline itself as a concept is just desire for self-control.

Because I don't see the relevance except, if anything, posing the problem on happiness and pleasure arising from buddhist practices too like from a really good meditation or supposedly the bliss of letting everything go. I fail to see how the religion isn't hypocritical.

the best way to cast off desire for sex and offspring is to talk to a modern western woman, you don't need any of this pagan bullshit.
