Nuh Fuck the gym Fuck sex I'll just be a cardio fag This shit is painful, like omg I can't feel my pelvis, sex must hurt like a bitch the day after, is that what people mean by the walk of shame?
>>85834934Out of the vast majority of normies that will waste their lives in the gym doing pisswork sets that they stop the second it gets uncomfortable, I'm actually proud of you for accurately assessing a cost/benefit analysis relative to what you want, what you know you'll do, and what's realistic. The weather is gorgeous right now anyway. I'd rather normies do around 30min of zone II cardio and enjoy themselves instead of fucking around gymcelling.
>>85834965Thanks anon, I appreciate it and the weather is lovely for me here too.Gym is so weird man this is my first week and I'm just asking the guy there for what to do and resting for one minute between each exercise meanwhile every guy is staring at the mirror after five bench presses And they have the same look my sister has whenever she buys a new outfit.
>>85834934Cardio feels way worse than strength exercisesIf you work yourself too hard with strength then the muscle you targeted will just hurt a bit (assuming it's not an actual injury)If you work yourself too hard with cardio you feel like you're dying
>>85835008You should rest for 3 minutes minimum between sets to allow your muscles to replenish expended ATP usually gets you to 80%; 100% takes 4 minutes.
>>85835021I felt that, the arm machines only hurt in the third rep But I don't know I sweat well in cardio either the bike or the treadmill In the bike I don't know the exact difficulty but ib my gym I pick half of the difficulty bar In the treadmill I start with 5 I think it's meter and I increase slowly to 10 where I start running
>>85835026I'm doing really really light stuff you can see even in my op I'm only handling 15 barely For the arm machines I play around 20 and 15There's a machine where you left up but you fist is sideways and it makes me suffer The other ones where you pull down or push forward I can handle
>>85835057Then you're not lifting heavy enough. It's fine to start light, which is important so you don't hurt yourself while trying to find where your upper limit is, but you should progress until it becomes a challenge.
>>85835068I'm aware every time I go I try to challenge myself to the next level sometimes I can handle the next weight sometimes I can't I'll get there eventually, the old old guys in the gym are very nice other zoomers are all working alone but I had old fellas correcting me and showing me how to do stuff properly Turned out people were right about my generation
This seems like as appropriate a place as any: I've been going to the gym for a month now, and pretty much only using the various machines, not doing much with free weights. Am I limiting myself with that or is it fine? Not looking to get swole or break any records, just wanna be strong enough to lift my gf for prolonged periods of time, and improve my stamina to be better in bed
>>85835021This only applies to strenuous cardio Zone 2 cardio is just fast enough to move the blood around. You can carry a conversation on it. And your body rewards you with endocannabinoids. Why would you "work yourself' during your recreation. That's stupid unless you enjoy pain>>85835207Machines are useful and worth the gym membership price because you can run a circuit on them, get in, get out as fast as possible and sufficiently provide a training stimulus to specifically targeted muscles, and they're too big and expensive to realistically set up in a homegym. If you just need to pick something up and carry it, let's say you're a first-responder or something, the muscles you need to focus on are, in order: (1) forearms, hands, and biceps, (2) core and erector spinae (3) quadriceps and calves (4) glutes and hamstrings. So next time at the gym get on the leg press, the leg extension, do hip thrusts, do leg curls, and calf raises. For arms, do preacher curls, lat pulldowns, and do something for grip strength. Grip people are weirdos but they come up with interesting solutions and you particularly need it. For the stabilizers do lumbar extensions, use a rotary torso machine and do seated ab crunches. I would split the workouts in threes, take those muscles to (true) failure on a Monday-Wed-Fri timeline or equivalent.Occasionally, practice on awkward, uneven, cumbersome objects to carry around that are heavier than the average person to test your strength. To improve stamina, do cardio
>>85834934>judging the entirety of resistance training based on the gayest and most useless exercise in the gymat least do something useful like kettlebell clean and press
>>85835207nothing wrong with machines but lifting heavy things in real life is a skill that requires balance and coordination. idk how fat your gf is but you might want to at least practice lifting free weights for the non-strength aspects.
>>85835476>balance and coordination Right so the stabilizers A.K.A. the core and erector spinae If you provide those a training stimulus (with ancient technology or modern) then you will develop their capacity This is why people get injured lifting free weights
>>85835526retard doing a leg press will not teach you how to do a backflip
>>85835543Right, because it's almost the entire leg, the core and abs, and upper body and arms including the neck. Training the muscles for adequate strength is a prerequisite. And picking someone up is not doing a backflip, you've picked things up before.
>>85835577there is no machine that will prepare you for picking up some fat bitch and walking around with her as well as free weights will
>>85835588Tension force on muscle fibers is tension force on muscle fibers.
>>85835642if it was the same as free weights then nobody would injure themselves using free weights. you're a retard. people injure themselves using free weights because it's not the same and it's less predictable.
>>85835655Which makes my case for me that apropos of training the involved muscles, tension on the target muscle with minimal noise and interference elsewhere is ideal. Feel free to do dumbbell shrimp squats on a bosu ball though because clowns are good at those kinds of circus performances.
>>85835689there's a reason athletes use freeweights instead of machines unless they're trying to rehab an injury or some shit. It's literally the difference between sex and masturbation.
>>85835698if anything I would recommend he fills a beer keg full of gravy and try to carry that around.
>>85834934are you a foid? why else would your pelvis hurt
>>85835698Yes and the reason is that their sports involve barbells and/or they're on gear and will respond to anything and there's no pressure to be selective about their exercises. >athletes only use machines for physical therapyYou are officially sneeding now. Fuck off. You make bad metaphors. Ejaculating doesn't involve a training stimulus from muscle failure. The training stimulus from muscle training comes from tension on the muscle fibers.
>>85835750>their sports involve barbells and/or they're on gear and will respond to anythingholy cope. you're just a nerd bro it's okay. you probably have all the athletic prowess of Kike Israetel.
>>85834934I just do calisthenics to do ninja shit. If gymbros were honest and said they do it to be hot id take them more seriously
>>85835785I think we're past the point where people lie about their motivations.
>>85834934Dude you're weak as fuck I do this machine every week
>>85834965>>85835008don't listen to that faggot. he wants you stuck in zone 2 so you can't outrun the government pigs when they try vanning you for the front lines drone meat slaughterhouse "die for israel's low income housing development" plans.if you aren't an ultra marathon runner right now you better get your ass moving.
>>85835086it's not about your generation. it's about the fact those old guys will stand butt ass naked in every square inch of the locker room because they've degenerated from the lack of trad wife in their life.they found the social loophole where you can stand naked in front of younger people without the cops getting called on you.they can't pull up to the high school locker rooms so they hit the gyms even though they should have done that long ago.go to the /fit/ board and find mark rippetoe's starting strength. do 3 sets of 10 reps on each compound lift every 48 hours. after 3-6 months of that you should be fine to try strong lifts 5x5. you'll get plenty of noob gains in the 3-6 months of starting strength. don't forget the biceps or you'll go T rex mode.
