I don't get it why did he cheat then? I dated a BPDemon from /soc/ on and off for about 3 years and it was hands down the most earth shattering mind blowing sex I ever had in my fucking life. My game theory is that they had been talking about opening up their relationship and hila wasnt completely ditching the idea. So ethan thought that he would be able to get away with it the day it was revealed and thats why they were so open about it. But when hila started figuring out something was wrong she closed that door completely. At one point she might have been almost ok with it but come on, what mother would she be if she allowed that in her family?
