I miss the 1990s and early-2000s. The world felt more colorful and the connections with people felt genuine. Didn't have access to the internet 24/7, but that was okay. Now, all I've got are my memories. I think I will continue to Nostalgiamaxx next year as well.
Just found that an old friend from middle school who re-added me a couple of weeks ago re-unfriended me as well. I'm crest-fallen.
>>85836211this is crazy, that photo was taken right by my house. now the entire area is being redeveloped into shitskin jeet faggot low income subsidized apartments.
>>85836211Nostalgia maxxing only leaves you in a worse position when you have that "wake up"
>>85836256A shame, that. Do the apartments at least look nice, or are they in that "corporate shoebox" style we see today?>>85836263sh-shut up. I'm never going to 'wake up.'
>>85836285they're not built up far enough to tell yet, but i'm sure they'll look like complete shit. it's literally just a tower of apartments being built in the parking lot of an old grocery store (which those niggers demolished to make room for and now i have to shop at a shitty store with no self checkout section). and i guarantee you the rent on each unit is going to be about 3 to 4k per month too.
>>85836263nta but shit really was better back then, technology was supposed to make our lives better and easier but it made everyone fucking retarded instead, and not the funny kind, nobody knows how to fuckin talk without assistance these days
>>85836344Life WAS better back then, it doesn't stop the wake up from being terrible if you nostalgiamaxx
>>85836328>no self-checkoutProbably the ONLY modern convenience I wouldn't give up. Fuck dealing with cashiers, and clerks, and shit.>>85836344or a grocery list without ChatGPT
In 2000 I would tape record music off the radio, and could not comprehend the possibility of just listening to any song I want on the internet for free no download required.
I really hated school though
>>85836344To be close to the thread topic, im not sure I could honestly to back to shopping at a gamestop physically. I mean yea the vibe was fun but I always felt like a complete nerd looking at the other people looking at the games, then seeing the goth baddie working gamestop probably being hounded by half of the fat fuckin sweat beasts she has to sell hyperdimention neptunia to
>>85836365Picrelated was my favorite high quality stereo radio tape recorder player
>>85836365Which reminds me that there are a couple of songs I need to download.>>85836367yooo, I remember/miss that "agenda." Being lost on my first day of middle school, and that shit did not help.
>>85836367....oh fuck off anon that thing brought back way too many fucking horrible memories. Exact same fucking useless school planner not a single fucking person used to write down homework, shit i used to use it to collect numbers (i think i had a grand total of three)t. class of 2003, midwest usa
When I worked in a grocery store in the 2000s, Gorilla Munch cereal looked like this
>>85836372Never obsolete
>>85836367Those notebooks were kind of shitty though
Also before I had a computer I would go to public libraries and Apple showrooms to browse myspace.
>>85836357Those play places were nasty as fuck. They always sent me to clean up the messes because my 15yo scrawny ass was the only one who could fit in it. Imagine sliding down the slide with a bucket full of shit water. One time some schizo woman ran into the lobby screaming that her child was stuck, so I had to crawl my ass up there to find him. Turns out he didn't want to come out.
>>85836373Little boxes to write everything down in, all kinds of random quotes and questions. Had to bring it to school every day or get 15 minutes detention.
i only really have nostalgia for my old neighborhood desu. i actually went there last year too. felt a little weird>funcolandfor some reason i dont remember this place at all. on google it says they went away in mid 2000 but i came back to america in 1999 and remember a lot from that year
Do kids these days even get textbooks, or is everything on the computer? Obvious plus is not having to carry around heavy books every day.
>you now remember opening school books and finding drawings of pee pees and wee wees
>>85836386In my region it was Discovery Zone, and a few local copycats called BrightChild and Cartoonsville. And of course the idea spawned from McDonald's Play Place
don't get a splinter
>hanging out with random kids you met at the park in the top of a rocket
>>85836392Those cases where the biggest pieces of shit
adult playground has an entirely different meaning
>>85836377>atomic colorsGod bring that back. >>85836374My jimmies are ready.>>85836381lol, we never thought about what was at the BOTTOM of the ball-pits. Probably for the better.>>85836390Probably just tablet computers and 5-subject spiral notebooks (wide-ruled, because...you know)>>85836401There's a wasp nest in there somewhere.
>>85836404I wanted one to be like the cool kids, or have something in common with the cue girls. But my parents never got me one, just a cheapass pencil pouch
>>85836417I still had to use 3 ring binders, and now I suddenly remember the school mascot pencil pouch with binder rings in it.
>>85836211That's because Comic Sans was so prevalent. We don't use that anymore. I mean I know in your picture that Funko land typeface is a serif. But Comic Sans serif was also quite popular and as a child I liked it. But I'm no longer a child. And it was overused. Professionals no longer use Comic type faces
school sucked, but yeah, totally took that time in life for granted
>>85836401they recently tore down my childhood playground due to a new safety lawthey even tore down the soccer goal which was just three logs and a net because it was unsafe for kidsi fucking hate the government
I still have over 9000 delicious bookmarks from the early 2000s that I'll never see again>most of them probably dead links or no longer relevant to my interest
>>85836437astroturf and plastic, coming soon
>when you see some random ass toy that jigs your memory
For some reason halloween sponges. This came in a set with a ghost and pumpkin.
>>85836434Remember the packed/heated school lunch? terrible but your health but oh so tasty?
average arcade ticket prize
>>85836432That might explain the irrational collective hatred toward Comic Sans. I noticed that while in university.
>>85836449if it helps this reminded me of this like tennis ball toy that had a big streamer on the end, you kinda whipped it around to see how far you could launch it by swinging it, and always lost that fucker in the tree in the yard
>>85836437they removed 2 trees at the little playground near my house. pretty fucked up since its probably insanely hot there in summer now
l always sucked at these
>>85836453*terrible for yououch
koosh
>>85836459the foxtail
>>85836449They were so eerie to watch flop around in the bargain bins.
>>85836456Oh my god I remember those gliders
these slid along a wall of legos well
>>85836475>poliwhirlthats how you know its before 2000
when mommy said you're too old to play with toys in the bathtub and took them away
>>85836470Yes those poor bastards my folks had to buy a couple times
Why have I never encountered these outside of elementary school.
slip and slide
king of the castle
bristle blocks
>I didn't care what the rich kids were getting, I just wanted anything and everything related to Pokemon or I-Spy
baby blocks
bumble ball
marble tracks
deens
why is there a pedo logo
sands
played with this in the store
Well, I'm going to go meditate and watch Dr. Who. This was enjoyable. You know, I saw that Walmart has the DVD set for Rocko's Modern Life, some Power Rangers seasons, and even Rugrats. Might buy those for myself and not open them until Christmas Day...or Eve.
oh expandable
weird lego varient nobody remembers
skill and stretegy
>>85836499I never saw anyone really do anything with those things other than snicker at it being a very loose joke of a pussy or using it in a jacking off motion
>>85836211It's because you now live in a digital panopticon enforced by the people around you. Additionally, your socialization is done pseudo-anonymously through non-physical means which cause your brain to perceive the importance of them as being lesser than in person interactions, which also leads to things like hyperpolarization because you have no incentive not to act retarded when you are effectively anonymous. At some point in the near future, it will be made virtually illegal to communicate anonymously on the internet. You can already see the first steps of this in place today with age verification laws. Additionally, it will be made highly illegal to record a person without their consent in public, we're talking serious jail time if you take a picture of somebody. This will also be framed as a child protecting safety law. However, the net result of these two laws will be the reduction of the importance of the internet as a means of socialization, which will force people back into public life again, improving everything from birth rates to general mental health. Governments will do this because if they fail to do so they will implode, as the people they are composed of will fail to recognize the importance of social organization and a healthy society (effectively viewing government as nothing more than organized crime).Anyway that's my schizo blog.
The world you remember no longer exists.
>>85836434Thanks I was looking for thid
>>85836434I wonder where she is now and if any domain squatters still use that pic
>>85836367>I really hated school thoughEverything you learned in school you can just Google now.
>>85836390>Do kids these days even get textbooks, or is everything on the computer? Obvious plus is not having to carry around heavy books every day. There's no way the textbook industrial complex is giving up on their racket.
>>85839107big textbook wins again
>>85836377My school had the hockey puck mouse. Still the worst mouse to ever be created.
>>85839107Tablet-only is MORE profitable though. Think about it, how long did those textbooks get used, many years. With tablets though, they can push a new version out every single year that schools can instantly load on to the tablets.
>>85836417I do miss Suncoast & FYE. Loved browsing all the movies & CDs at the mall before grabbing a bite to eat at the food court.
>>85836461Everyone did. We all could do 3 tricks: rock the baby, forward toss, and walk the dog. Everyone tried around the world and probably busted a hole in the wall/ceiling or snapped the string.
>>85836507Didn't read then, still don't read now. I'd look at Goosebumps and World Records books, that's it.
>>85839444>With tablets though, they can push a new version out every single year that schools can instantly load on to the tablets. They were doing the same thing with editions of textbooks. And textbooks will LOOK worn out. An extremely popular politicking maneuver was to talk about how shitty text books are--big bonus points if you hold up a moldy book falling apart for the camera. Tablets are more expensive and fragile. Charging per update is diabolical. Especially on top of charging for subscription services.
i was born in 2007. i loved the 90s so much
Completely dropping all forms of social media including discord has rewired my brain back to 2002. I've been getting hit by waves of feels that I haven't felt since the early 2000s.The days feel more like "what should i do today" instead of "lets check discord and steam and Facebook and Instagram and DeviantArt and 4chan and then lets doom scroll Youtube for 3 hours." or whatever variation of that. For some people it's doom scroll literally all day while checking Discord rot.
>>85836585No living human being wants advertisements to exist, yet they are so prevalent you literally cannot escape them. It's because advertisers have become like Jew Banks that just throw out fucking money as long as you hand them control. There isn't a single person who isn't willing to sell their soul out for free Jew ad money, look at every Youtuber, they will literally record the ad themselves.Money is the problem.
>>85839507>Charging per update is diabolicalMcGraw-Hill still makes a large % of school textbooks. Who owns them? Platinum Equitiy. Who is in charge? Tom Gores. Can you guess his early life?>Gores was born in Nazareth, Israel >an American-Israeli billionaire businessmanWould you like to ask your question again or do you get why they'd charge per update?
>>85836417Suncoast and Babbage's were my jam. It was just fun looking through random stuff while bullshitting with friends.
>>85839507>Tablets are more expensive and fragilePeople underestimate the bored maliciousness kids have. Easier to eat losses when some retard decides to use his math notebook as a frisbee, not so much when it's some Ipad.>inbf. No kid would do thatYou know which types would, anon
>>85841213Most schools hold the child/parent responsible for the tablet. You sign an agreement and if you damage it, you pay for it.
I hated it when I took the nostalgia goggles off. When you do, you see it's as shit as it is now and the issues we need have now were the same back then. People tend to focus too much on the positive or negative while minimizing the other. I remember the positives back then, but to ignore all the negatives is just dishonest.
>>85836374> my jimmies have acquired rustled status
