I have started playing chess just because I want to play into the stereotype that we're all intellectual loners. My elo is currently hovering at about 200
>>85837094Mine was 300~
>>85837094>>85837098Enjoy getting mogged by machines.
>>85837094>play into the stereotype that we're all intellectual loners. What stereotype is this?
I can't play chess anymore because the girl who broke my heart used to play chess with me.Maybe I can learn backgammon.

I highly recommend NEETs to never touch chess. Reason being that losing feels many, many times worse than winning feels good. Combine that with always being matched against people in your skill range meaning your winrate will always be ~50% so playing the game will always be net-negative. Becoming good doesn't mean anything either because it's just a game and how good you can become is obviously hardcapped by your genetics. Chess is a black hole for joy.
>>85837100You should just clone you brain onto a USB drive and kill yourself, then everybody including you would be happy
Lee is dead
>>85837127It depends on your mindset. If you are humble and accept that you are just another player, if you treat the game as just a game, if you don't tie your ego to it, if you respect the opponent, you can just enjoy the competition.
>>85837100>oh, you lift weights?>well the Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 lattice boom crane can lift 800 tons, bet you feel stupid now>you throw balls?>well the M1299 Howitzer can fire projectiles over a distance of 110km, why do you even bother?
I am surprised at how fun chess can be.across the past few days, I've played about 60 matches of 5 minute blitz chess
>>85837094Hovering at around 1150 eloLove doing the traxler on unsuspecting opponents because you almost always get a winning position
>>85837094based erudite
I already got bored of chess when I couldn't find a worthy opponent. The problem is people don't know the rules of the game, but also people take too fucking long to move their pieces. If you need that long to think, something is wrong.
>>85837152Why bother with the cloning?>>85837274I was going to argue those are different but the essence of it is the same. Fair point.
>>85839302just play blitz chess
I play a bit, I can't say I have ever.gotten better except when I looked up an opening and a couple tactics. That's the bad part you don't get good through intuition
>>85837094Tried to start learning it myself and played seriously for a month. Feel like an idiot. Not sure what it takes to hit 1k, but I will remain a 400 elo monkey forever. Had the same idea of hitting a high elo to cope as an intellectual loner but guess I'm just a loner.
