Good morning I guess

Also what is wrong with my apartment building i always hear people walking around in the halls at 2, 3, 4 in the morning. Someone just walked by and it sounded like a woman in the direction out of the building. Whats wrong with people?
>>
>>85842191
Hey, good for you. That's the lucid dreaming build, you know.
>>
>>85842318
i used to lucid dream but i decided to not
it sounds cringe but i started to get recurring dreams of astral projecting myself into hell

the demons there were like cenobites and tortured me to "teach" me stuff and try to turn me into a demon. it was fun for a while but i had to stop to hold onto my sanity because i started hearing their voices while I was awake too
>>
>>85842348
Unfortunate. What's nice about dreams is that you learn a bit about yourself. I don't know what that means for you. Maybe you should try BDSM.
>>
>>85842401
>Maybe you should try BDSM.
i want to but it's toxic for 99.99% of monogamous ppl
>>
>>85842501
Well I was just joking. I don't think having weird nightmares means you should wear a gimp suit. Regardless, nightmares are often a sign of mental turmoil. I personally think it can be productive to reflect on them.
>>

>nightmares are often a sign of mental turmoil. I personally think it can be productive to reflect on them.
i think it depends. at a certain point, reflecting on your past traumas and stuff is like the mental equivalent of picking scabs. you're scarred no matter what you try to do with it. self awareness is good, but it doesn't let you escape what you are.
>>
>>85842680
I don't think nightmares are manifestations of the same thing over and over. Very few people have truly reoccurring dreams. They might be anchored in something universal, but they often reflect your current state.
>>
I had a nightmare I was getting raped. Half way through it turned out it was me raping myself. I always wonder what that meant.
>>

>tfw one of the lucky few.
I think i have an easier time trusting people that are the same way. It's be nice if the whole world was populated by romantic heroes isntead of normies.

you are repressing your urge to be m. night shamylan

Plenty of people have reoccurring dreams. I'm referring to dreams that are invariably the exact same. It's the slight variations that reflect your current circumstances.
>>85842770
According to Freudian analysis, I think it means you want to bang your mom.

Close to the window or get a pair of earplugs it's nice

oh, yeah i guess so. that doesnt seem so profound to me though. humans practically never say the same sentence twice either, unless they havent mastered the language they're speaking in.
>I think it means you want to bang your mom.
doesn't everything, lol?
>Close to the window or get a pair of earplugs it's nice
it's not an issue with falling asleep, i was saying what's wrong with people just because I can't imagine what you're going out at 2am to do unless you're an ebin doomer nightwalking.
i leave the window open when i sleep sometimes but it's so quiet outside that I worry people on the street will hear me talking in my sleep

sorry, didn't reply correctly.

"Profound" is really not the right word. I just think it's entertaining. The truth is that any actual substantial revelation you could get from a dream is probably something you already subconsciously know.

>The truth is that any actual substantial revelation you could get from a dream is probably something you already subconsciously know.
it's funny because fiction is the same. we only like to hear messages that we already believe deep down.
i wonder if humans would have invented fantasies if we were unable to dream
>>
>>85843026
But is fiction really about the message? For example, plenty of people love reading low effort wish fulfillment fiction. Surely that should mean that fiction is more about how it relates to personal experience than it is about what we learn.
>>
>>85843098
i guess believe is maybe the wrong word, but even wish fulfillment agrees with the sensibilities of people who enjoy it. you're right though, and i was wrong.
>>
>>85843102
>wish fulfillment agrees with the sensibilities of people who enjoy it.
That is true. I suppose sensibilities can also be self contradictory as well. It might even be that any set of sensibilities can be warped into a set of sensibilities that agrees with the reader. Maybe that is what talent is from a literary standpoint.
>>
>>85843112
>I suppose sensibilities can also be self contradictory as well.
yeah. like idk. for example i am really morbid and so i like horror stories because they agree with my sensibility that things are terrible while still satisfying my sensibility that there should be an identifiable root for negative emotions. it seems like it shouldn't be satisfying even though really it is.
>Maybe that is what talent is from a literary standpoint.
maybe. it's funny you bring it up though, because i'm literally playing alan wake right now. I want to try the new control games because it seems sorta interesting and it seems like it might be getting towards those themes.
>>
>>85843127
Like internet horror? I like that stuff too. Mother Horse Eyes was pretty good. Although, the ending was kinda shit.
>>
>>85843159
>Like internet horror? I like that stuff too.
sometimes, but really all stuff. i didnt see mother horse eyes though, what is that?
>>
>>85843171
I have always liked horror stories. Not because I like scary things, but because they often involve interesting ideas and premises. Tell you the truth, I actually cheat in infinite ammo when I play survival horror games.
>what is that?
classic creepy pasta that kinda falls apart near the end. pretty fun read.
>>
>>85843188
>I have always liked horror stories. Not because I like scary things, but because they often involve interesting ideas and premises.
that's true as well. it's like how in english there are more words for bad things than good ones. maybe it's some natural instinct that makes our drive for ingenuity stronger in the face of perilous situations.
>Tell you the truth, I actually cheat in infinite ammo when I play survival horror games.
well alan wake isnt really a survival horror. it's like an action game so far. just got off of playing tenebris somnia which has you know puzzles and stuff like that so the difference is pretty stark.
>classic creepy pasta that kinda falls apart near the end. pretty fun read.
thanks for the recommendation. i should give it a read sometime
>>
>>85843202
Certainly, macabre things capture the imagination better. Crowds do love a good car crash. And I suppose horror is as good an outlet as any for negative emotions.
Im going to bed. Good night. Or I suppose youre already up.
>>
>>85843224
good night anon. hope you sleep better than me lol
>>
>>85842191
Bitch you dont have a problem if you went to bed BEFORE 2am. I dont even think about hittin the sheets til about 430 am and god might bless me with a few winks around 645 before SOMETHING wakes my light sleepin ass up about oh 9 fuckin 30
>>
>>85843250
>you dont have a problem if you went to bed BEFORE 2am
getting into bed at 4:30 seems more like a self-destructive choice. it's louder during the day so it seems light it'd be hard to rest as a light sleeper.
i get into bed early because i'm tired all the time because i never get good sleep.
>>
alan wake is pretty cool so far but took a break
have to study for exams but the website is down so I can't even do it.
im actually going to fail out this sucks
>>
Oh, nevermind. I already failed. The mandatory assignment got failed so I wasn't assigned an exam at all.
;_;
