Be more upfront about the fact you are looking for a gf, reach the "I have a boyfriend" part sooner, it is actually better that way. If you find it irritating it is because you have the wrong mentality, you are searching, it is not like you see the love of your life and have to give her your all like some movie or juvenile fantasy, it doesn't work like that. Once you banish such silly utopian thoughts from your mind you can focus on what you can get from this world.
