The bane of my existence. I've been practicing guitar for a little over three years and have nothing to show for it. In that same time I became competent in two foreign languages and received a license as an electrician. I simply don't get it. I can barely play two songs at half their normal speed. All I ever wanted out of life was to be a musician, but I can't fucking do it.
>>85843986I have a similar struggle. I really tried to make song but they were all so fucking awful I basically have zero songwriting ability and I wanna be good
This is what happens when you're overconfident and think of it as a hobby, rather than admitting you are totally clueless and getting instructions from a music teacher.
>>85843986Sometimes you just have to accept that you don't have an aptitude for something and move on. Keep fiddling with from time to time if you want to, but your efforts are better focused elsewhere.
>>85844023yep. if you truly want to become better then you must take private lessons and practice the instrument every day, there is no substitute.
>>85843986i've been playing for years, since i was atedenager with like a decade break and i lost all my skill and i still don't know how to write a full complete song, i can make a cool riff like a cool chorus or interlude or something and then i won't know what to do with it because i never learned theory AND since i took like a decade long break i forgot all the songs i used to play, now that i'm relearning i can only play one song, and not up to speed. i think the songs i'm trying to learn right now are way above my skill level, but i get bored learning less challenging songs.it's a curse, i've always been jealous of dudes that can just improvise a fucking sick ass shred.
