Suffering has a role. You are right to suffer, sometimes. But there's no point in doing it just for its own sake. There is no point in suffering performatively. the quickest way to become a misanthrope is to be a nurse or a doctor in a busy metropolitan hospital. you will see daily the worst that humans can do or be. just never ending lumpen.
and before you know it you'll find yourself finding all sorts of ways to bump up the "all cause mortality" rate.
there's currently on the order of 8 billion people on the planet so "rationed care" is the new normal. rationed care is a fancy way to say medical murder.

but the one good work supposedly cancels out the bad. learned psychopathy is a survival mechanism.

they've got an A list and a B list.
that's just how it is.
hellhole is just the latest manifestation of the inquisition. torture and the people who do it are a useful if not indispensable adjunct to power.
the good work is powerful but so is the bad.
they exploit both.
