The biggest spider I ever saw,
Was perched above my bathroom door.
The light was off, but hard to miss,
Was the thing as big as my closed fist!
I ducked away and froze with fear.
I dreaded even going near.
But, I knew if I didn't make this right,
I would not be able to sleep this night.
Luckily, I had right there,
My vacuum cleaner atop the stair.
I have it here outside my room,
To deal with moths, which I vacuum.
It may sound strange, but it's clean and fast.
But tonight I faced a scary task.
I laid my phone torch on the floor,
And took a peek under the door.
With my handheld vac held at arms length,
I mustered all my manly strength.
I aimed the nozzle up at it.
I wondered if it would even fit!
The first attempt, it crawled aside!
The second, too! it was trying to hide!
I stepped fully into the bathroom,
Pushed closed the door, aimed the vacuum,
And then finally, it went inside!
I kept it on to make sure it died.
My heart still did not stop racing,
Until I saw through the plastic casing,
The lifeless monster dead inside.
I was so relieved I almost cried.
As the tension went away,
I found my legs could barely stay,
I spent a while, sat by the door,
Just collapsed on the carpet floor.
So, yeah, I was scared, I guess.
The situation brought much stress.
But now I can rest in peace,
Knowing I have slayed the beast.
One more thing before I turn in;
I think I'll go out to the bin,
And tip the vacuum's contents out,
Just in case it crawls back out!
