Anime is an artificial "shadow biosphere," the first one to be created (technically, American researchers created artificial 2-dimensional constructs on "the edge of life" before the Japanese did, but they were not self-regulating, could not maintain homeostasis and could not reproduce [and in fact did not have gonads or other prerequisites of sexual reproduction]).
