If you live in an apartment building or some other sort of building with several other people, and if that building has a shared laundry area, there is a rule. It is an unwritten rule, yes, but it is a rule nevertheless, that applies to all.

The rule is this. If you go to the laundry area to do laundry at a reasonable time of day, and if someone has left their laundry in one of the machines after its cycle is completed, and no other machines are available and the only way that you can start your laundry is to move the other person's cycled laundry out of the given machine, then you have the right to do so, provided that there is a reasonably clean surface in the area that the cycled laundry can be placed on. By this very rule, if you yourself have left some cycled laundry in place in a machine, preventing another person from starting their laundry at the moment that they chose to start their laundry, they likewise have the right to move your laundry out of the way. Obviously, one may not steal or mess up other people's laundry, except insofar as the other person may forget theirs for a while, in which case they are really responsible for any wrinkles or other minor defects.

The reason why this rule is true, is because life in such a building presupposes that the people living in it are adults who live adult lives who both need to perform basic adult tasks (like laundry) and are presumed competent to perform those basic adult tasks. Doing laundry is a need, and you need to be able to do it when you're ready to do it.

NOW. Having said all of that, you do run a small, non-zero risk that the person whose laundry is removed may be rude and become upset with you, despite not having the right to their own feelings. So you can pick your battles, and choose not to exercise your right if you think it prudent. But you DO have the right, at all times, as described. Personally, I have never encountered this particular problem situation, although I'm sure some have.

Dubs of truth. This is possibly my favorite part of owning my own trailer

the intrinsic issue here is that people have no way of knowing when you removed their laundry, especially if by the time they get to it, other laundry machines have since opened, which is entirely within the realm of possiblelity

Luck is often on your side because if your laundry finishes before they arrive you can dump it back in where you found it.

the real thing is if you use a laundry machine that's shared in a building you should be on top of the time and empty the machine within 5-10 minutes of the load finishing that's just basic courtesy

My unwritten rule is different and it's about open relationships. I know that some people don't enjoy open relationships, and Will Smith is sometimes seen as a huge cuck, but it's in my general opinion that open relationships can still be manageable. However, this rule is meant for people who are in one.

If you are having sex in an open relationship, you should be happy. No I don't mean you should be walking on sunshine, I mean you should be generally pleased with yourself and the way things are going. If for some reason, you have sex with a person and you want to steal yourself away, kidnap someone, or get drunk at an unfamiliar location, please kindly think about why you are in a relationship to begin with. It can seem personal, but people who are using an open relationship to apply massive amounts of sexual attention to themselves or others often have no real reason for behaving like children.

The reason for open relationships being about personal happiness is this: you have only yourself to blame if sex becomes the only reason you and someone else are together. If this is true, you should make the most of the sex, because it's very likely you won't want to be happy otherwise, and then the people you do sleep with will wonder why you're putting yourself through the ringer over someone you aren't even exclusively attached to.

It's just a pet-peeve of mine.

Your fortune: Good Luck
