The reality is that everyone does some things wrong, even if it's just a mistake. But the thing is some people steal an apple, others mutilate people for fun. That's where "an eye for an eye" comes in. The punishment should fit the crime. The only way the world would go blind is if enough people liked to blind others. And even if that were true, why should you let the people blinders be the only ones left with eyes? Rewarding evil people and punishing innocent people is evil.
