The NextGen Acela is America's newest and fastest high-speed train. It runs along the Northeast Corridor between Washington D.C. and Boston, and is capable of reaching top speeds of 160 mph (257.5 km/h). For a frame of reference, the standard top operating speed on the Tokaido Shinkansen line (connecting Tokyo and Shin-Osaka) used by N700 series trains in Japan is 177 mph (285 km/h). I can't wait to ride it myself one day!
