In my personal experience with Japan and Japanese people they're probably some of the most caring and empathic people I've encountered apart from Thai. Their compassion has odd blind spots though. I think we're all like that though we just kind of learn to numb ourselves to the people trying to pull our strings otherwise we'd be penniless.

The Japanese are severely autistic, and it becomes obvious that their entire society is built around masking with whatever everyone around them is doing. You can see it best now during the World Cup with how Japanese tourists act "American" in a way that loud, over the top, and rambunctious; however they lack the American swagger that allows them to pull it off casually so it feels like a person trying their best to act American
