I think, as an above 16 year old user, that the social media banning and internet censorship that has been happening since I believe 2023 is DISGUSTING.
All of this censorship in multiple countries for the internet, which was originally made for free communication, is an ever-expanding thing that's slowly step-by-step taking away some or even most freedoms. Especially in the UK where by the year 2027, users under 16 wont be allowed on big social media platforms, but YouTube kids will be an exception? Fucking excuse me your gonna make 15 year old teenagers use YOUTUBE KIDS? Holy shit, and not even that but the fact your gonna have to show your whole ID and face to some AI that'll probably just collect it is insane! That identification could also be hacked and stolen making even using the internet entirely DANGEROUS.
I've been using the internet since I was 6 years old, I remember making stupid videos on YouTube when I was 7, watching the annoying orange, playing Roblox, etc. And yeah I've been groomed on Instagram before and I've seen some vulgar shit on the internet, but is it really that deep? And would forcing users to show their full identities fix anything about that? Personally I don't think censorship for such a widely used thing should exist, in fact I don't think the internet as it is TODAY with the iPhone and whatever, should've ever been created!
Censorship is fucking despicable, I think the modern internet should either not exist or be FREE FOR EVERYONE, moderation should be handled by WHAT YOU SEARCH FOR and what YOU USE AND CREATE!!!!!!
Man I thought the internet was gonna be so cool in the future, it's so shitty now...
