why did they put only 256MB of RAM in the original ipad? the same A4 in the iphone 4 came with 512MB... on a screen with less pixels.

All the ipads up to like ipad 4 were dealt a bad card when it came to hardware and didn't really work well and were slow even when they were relevant

I still have my iPad one. It's pretty slow indeed but mine has 94% battery health and the battery lasts months even in standby. I use it for reading manga and books and it plays some light games too like Bejeweled, Angry Birds, Final Fantasy Tactics and Ghost Trick and some light emulators like Game Boy/GBC and NES with a Wiimote as a controller. It's a lot more usable still than any android tablet from that time period. I have an iPad 2 as well which is a little better at the same simple things and a first gen iPad Mini which is the same thing as the iPad 2 but with a lightning port. My newest iPad is an 8th Gen but it's frustrating due to having the majority of storage taken up by ios.
