When I was 11, my best friend and I were having a sleepover. During it, she introduced me to a website called Omegle. I'd never heard of it before, so being a curious kid, I tried it out. At first, it was actually kind of fun. We talked to randoms, got flashed a few times (which was disgusting), and spent most of the night trolling strangers. Then everything changed. We were waiting for the next video feed to connect. For a few seconds, there was no one on screen.. there was just silence. Then I heard a loud thud, followed by an infant screaming. When the camera was picked up, it pointed to a man violating an infant in real time. I was completely frozen. I had never seen something so horrific in my life. What made it hit even harder was that I have a younger sister who was around the same age as that baby at the time. My best friend closed out of the website after a few more moments, but I completely fell apart. I started crying so hard I threw up. My friend just laughed because she thought the situation was funny. Why would she think it's funny? It's something that's stayed with me ever since, but I've never talked about it. Not until today. I wonder why he would do something so cruel. I wonder what happened to that little girl. Is she okay now? Did someone save her? Was he ever held accountable?
