>>13135365It might have been different before but the ZFS implementation is basically the same now.Jails are just native containers, the difference is too small to justify leaving linux' more developed ecosystem.
>>13135368The amount of hoops you have to jump through to get zfs working on loonix especially on root is too cumbersome and it might just break on kernel upgradeJails are best used with zfs dataset snapshots thanks to which you don't use that much resources as with docker for example not to mention network configuration is also simplerFreeBSD also has godtier documentation and it's much easier to configure
>>13135241maybe if you stop trying to mindrape me with your radio gizmos>>13135368the ecosystem is largely shared since FreeBSD does have solid linux support tbfYour fortune: ( ´_ゝ`)フーン
>>13135241I've used it before. It's an option if you're using hardware that FreeBSD actually supports, like a thinkpad or something. But I think that it's not recommended that most people actually try to daily drive FreeBSD. The user experience is basically "linux if there was more hassle". It takes more effort to get software working and I don't think I ever figured out how to get appimages or flatpaks to work. I'm sure it's possible to get it all set up and working, but why do that to yourself? But if you're just a fan of operating systems as a hobby, maybe give OpenBSD a try, it's kinda neat.>>13135245>>13135250I hope u meant debian >:(Debian is user-friendly in the current year, which makes installing Ubuntu even less justifiable than years ago.Debian is a great option for most people. Although I'd probably recommend something arch-based like CachyOS to gamers. Arch has better support for nvidia drivers and from my experience, it does a better job at allocating ram. And I'm sure someone will say "why would you buy nvidia hardware?" because I can't just go back in time and stop myself and I'm not buying a brand new gpu in this economy when my 2060 Super is good enough for anything worth playing.
>>13135765Ubuntu does have some advantage over Debian in terms of hardware support despite being based on it and I personally like it's version of GNOME which is what really irks me about all the stuff that has made it not worthwhile over other distros also Nvidia has some notable advantages over AMD and Intel that get overlooked because of how much people will only look at gaming benchmarksYour fortune: Godly Luck
