when 9/11 happened i was in high school physics class and when the news happened the teacher said "i'm too sad to keep teaching today" and so we watched cnn until it was time to go home, then we went home and watched more cnn

even childrens tv networks like disney and nick were overridden with news broadcast for the next few days. boomers were saying it was the greatest tragedy in this country since JFK was shot

I was having a great day on 9/11
I remember it was a hot day where I was
I ran home to tell my mom about the great day I had at school
when I walked in the living room I saw my mom crying looking at the TV
I didn't live in the US at the time so I didn't even know what the world trade center was or why I should even care
then I went upstairs to my friends house and we played tony hawk, continuing to have a good day while the adults were freaking out
for years I still never really understood why anyone should care
then my dad got deployed to Iraq a few years later and died

It's even weirder because Bin Laden was from Afghanistan, not Iraq. Iraq didn't even have anything to do with those attacks.

So ok, this is going to sound a bit controversial and maybe even edgy but please try to be patient with me.
Undoubtedly this was a horrible event, 3000 people died, that can't be nice for their families.
But right now, there are wars happening where many more people die than that and it's just normalized. If you try to talk about it, you often get canceled, like people lose their jobs and stuff. It's as if we are being told how to think. Who is doing this and why? I don't understand what is the endgame here. Can someone explain without being biased?
